Amazing location with great food and wine and an awesome outdoor area to relax and partake of their wines and food.

When we were there they had wood fire pizza available for lunch.

I would get there early as when we left at 1pm most of the outdoor tables where taken

I am reviewing the restaurant The Kitchen @ Helwig. This is a new restaurant located at the Helwig Winery. The serve lunch only and are open from 11-3 daily. They have a beautiful location with several outside seating areas and great views. The menu offers burgers, sandwiches, salads and wraps. We had the pulled pork, smoked brisket and the Cuban sandwiches . All the sandwiches were excellent and each came with a generous serving of beer battered fries. The beer battered fries were the best french fries I have had in a very long time. You order inside and are provided a buzzer announcing when your order is ready to be picked up. There is no table service.
This is a great place to have lunch while doing wine tasting in Amador County.. We definitely plan to return .

Met up with family for lunch. Since we don't drink, can't comment on that, but the lunch was very good. They change the menu occasionally. We had the burger, brisket tacos and pulled pork sandwich. All very tasty. You order at the kitchen. They page you and you return to pick up your food in a take-out container. All seating is outdoors, with some areas covered. It's a great view overlooking the foothills and (on a clear day), the Sierra Nevada mountains. Overall, a nice dining experience.

Yesterday we travelled to Helwig looking forward to having a post Thanksgiving lunch with our family. As we walked up with our six year old grandson, we were immediately met by a male who told us that no children were allowed! Pets were welcome but not our grandson!!! I literally had no words! But today, I’m furious! I would love to hear from the person that manages Helwig and not the rude, abrupt, unfriendly male that confronted our family.
I advise families with children to support the Plymouth kid friendly wineries ONLY! Not Helwig!!!!

My husband and I were on a wine trip and stopped here because of a white wine recommendations from another winery. What a beautiful property and tasting room. The staff was gracious and kind. They have a restaurant in the back. We did now know this and will come to eat next visit. We are still thinking of joining their club so that we can visit more often. Great stop!

They make a Sparkling Wine here that is pretty good. Good enough to buy a few bottles anyway. Their long tasting room and bar also displays their many awards from the State Fair in Sacramento and other spotlight events. We just like to go outside and look at the magnificent mountains, some miles away. The have a kitchen that provides a very limited but tasteful menu of food to accompany your tasting and a large uncovered patio area to sit at a table and talk or love the view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

My husband, his sister and I went here yesterday for lunch. GREAT place, friendly staff and the BBQ Brisket was the best! The pavilion had beautiful view of the surrounding vineyards, valley and mountains. Would go back in a heartbeat!

I stopped here for lunch with a couple of friends on the recommendation of the tasting room staff at another winery nearby. Was hoping to check out the wines but ran short of time and I'll have to do that on a future visit - this review is of The Kitchen only. The location of The Kitchen within the winery complex is a little tough to find at first - it's kind of tucked back a ways from the tasting room and other areas. There's a small lobby area where you place your order and then pick up your food. Since it was a cold and rainy day, the woman taking our orders offered to let us wait for our food at the table in an adjacent VIP wine-tasting space since it was not being used at the time. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, a couple of sides, and a charcuterie platter. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Wrap - smoked chicken with a cabbage / dill pickle blend, and Nashville aioli in a tortilla, served with fries. My two friends got a burger and a cauliflower wrap. We headed over to an adjacent building with an event space with lots of tables and large windows to eat our lunches. My chicken wrap was very tasty if a bit messy to eat, and the fries were excellent. It's a little on the pricey side but that was not unexpected, and overall I enjoyed my meal and experience there. I'd certainly consider returning for lunch the next time I'm visiting wineries in Shenandoah Valley.

This winery has a very large parking lot, and it was pretty full when we drove up, so we weren't sure how crowded it was going to be. Well, we had nothing to worry about because the back patio is very large, with a huge variety of seating options. We bought a bottle of wine and selected the Adirondack chairs near the back, which a great view of the surrounding hills. We engaged in conversation with others around us, and enjoyed our wine with some snacks we brought in. It was such a relaxing time! We spent about 90 minutes there. Best winery we found (out of the 4 we visited).
