With one of the best views in Amador's Shenandoah Valley, Iron Hub Winery specializes in premium white and red wines. Winemaker Tom Jones recently launched his new winery called Iron Hub that reflects a new chapter in his 30-year career as an award-winning winemaker. Nestled on a hilltop with one of the prettiest view in Shenandoah Valley, Iron Hub Winery, was previously the Amador Foothill Winery site from 1980 through 2015. Visit our winery to chat with new owners, take in the panoramic Sierra view, and learn about our plans for this beautiful hilltop location. We also offer an array of gourmet picnic items that pair perfectly with our wines and our picnic area offers picturesque vineyard views of the surrounding wine country. This winery was recently purchased by a couple from the owner who had retired . The winery went major renovation, including new equipment , new labelling, bottle sorting machines. We had a few wines tested there. The Rose wine was the best one . They need more improvement and better marketing to be successful and presentable. Overall we had a... More

We visited this little winery over the weekend and loved our tasting. They have a tremendous variety of reds that impressed from top to bottom of the list. Their Chardonnay is outstanding, and more whites will be bottled soon. We met the owners who were friendly and interesting, and they spoke excitedly of their upcoming improvement projects for the access... More

Iron Hub Winery - the new name. Tom Jones is the winemaker, and has just released four new wines under the new label. The sangiovese, barbera and Clockspring zinfandel are all very good. Waiting to try some more of Tom's wines. The tasting room is small, but there is an artists rendering of their new tasting room planned for later... More

One of the oldest wineries in the area, they have new owners and I expect some great things from them.

For the last number of trips to Amador County, we've made an effort to stop and discover new wineries in the area. This last weekend, we stopped at Amador Foothill Winery. We met Beth who gave us a rundown on their new ownership, where they've been prior to purchasing Foothill and went on to tell us about some of the... More

Nestled in the rugged Sierra foothills in Gold Country, you'll find this gem. Amador Foothill Winery offers some really great zinfandels; but the thing that sets this venue apart is the ownership. Winemaker Tom Jones and his staff are so welcoming, you're bound to leave with a happy glow in addition to a couple of very good bottles! If you're... More

Just go up and taste the wine! We've been hitting this winery once a year for the past 15 years or so. These guys have some amazing wines. Every year a different wine attracts my attention. Generally, their Clockspring Zin is my favorite, but it all depends on the year. We've never left this wine tasting room disappointed. The staff... More

I enjoyed the wines here nothing over the top, but some very good ZIn's along with some interesting aglianico's. Friendly owners who were by far the most pleasant and welcoming that we met on our trip.

I've been buying the Zinfandel from this winery for many years and have a nice collection now. Their Zins never disappoint. I saw the other reviews but I don't go for the buildings or the grounds, just the wines. Always worth the trip.
