About
With one of the best views in Amador's Shenandoah Valley, Iron Hub Winery specializes in premium white and red wines. Winemaker Tom Jones recently launched his new winery called Iron Hub that reflects a new chapter in his 30-year career as an award-winning winemaker. Nestled on a hilltop with one of the prettiest view in Shenandoah Valley, Iron Hub Winery, was previously the Amador Foothill Winery site from 1980 through 2015. Visit our winery to chat with new owners, take in the panoramic Sierra view, and enjoy the new tasting room with a beautiful hilltop location. We also offer an array of gourmet picnic items that pair perfectly with our wines and our picnic area offers picturesque vineyard views of the surrounding wine country. Tasting Room Hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 11AM to 5PM

So beautiful grounds. Wines are exceptional and staff is super friendly. Chardonnay is excellent as well as Resolute red blend and Zinfandel. Just a fun friendly place to enjoy our wonderful foothills.

We found this place by accident and it was a great fine by accident, happy we did. They have the best view in Amador Wine Country and their wines are great as well. We got to taste all of their wines, not in one visit but several visits. You will feel as your in a different state, it takes your mind of your stressful week. We love going to Iron Hub Winery because of the wine, view, and staff. If your on a wine tour make sure you add Iron Hub Winery to your list and make it your last stop. As they say, "save the best for last".

Many thanks for your remarks and support! We hope that you continue to return to sample our new releases! We have our outdoor patio set up for seated tastings these days!

Beautiful views over vineyards with Sierra mountains in distance. Super welcome by the family, mother and son in our case. $10.00 for tasting, given back if you buy a bottle. Lovely patio, nice wines, family dogs stop by to say hello. Really nice, highly recommend. Also bought some spice rubs made by locals, nice add on in the store.

The tasting room looked modern and inviting, but unfortunately we tasted on the deck. The deck has spectacular views, but is located on a concrete slab. This seemed to absorb and radiate the heat and was borderline uncomfortable with warm weather. There were also a few pesky flies that I could not show away. The wines are well made and the wine staff was upbeat and knowledgable. Probably need to try again on a balmy day.

The grounds are stunning, and we truly enjoyed our experience overall, except for the lack of attention by one of the tasting room attendants.
It was St Patrick’s Day so it was very packed. We started with one gal who was attentive at first and then more or less ditched us. The owner’s son caught on after we stood there awkwardly with empty glasses and then continued to pour.
I love the tasting room, and the Chardonnay is exceptional. I’ll return to give it another shot but still has a little coaching for the overall experience and to flip a visitor into a member.

Hands down the best overall winery and wine tasting experience in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. The nicely designed tasting room is situated on a hilltop with spectacular views in all directions. Be sure to go around lunch time because the picnic is outstanding. The employees are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. And of course, then wines are great as well -- good selection of reds and a couple of whites that my wife liked. The wines aren't cheap, but that's what you get these days although there's a 5% discount if you buy four bottles.
The best experience we had was actually that evening when we were driving back to our B&B. There was beautiful sunset just starting as we were driving past, so we drove up to the top of the hill and enjoyed the panoramic view all over again. Could not have been more romantic.

Nestled in the rugged Sierra foothills in Gold Country, you'll find this gem. Amador Foothill Winery offers some really great zinfandels; but the thing that sets this venue apart is the ownership. Winemaker Tom Jones and his staff are so welcoming, you're bound to leave with a happy glow in addition to a couple of very good bottles! If you're in Amador County, do yourself a favor and stop here. You'll be glad you did!

Just go up and taste the wine! We've been hitting this winery once a year for the past 15 years or so. These guys have some amazing wines. Every year a different wine attracts my attention. Generally, their Clockspring Zin is my favorite, but it all depends on the year. We've never left this wine tasting room disappointed. The staff is great and they often have the wine maker around pouring as well. So if you are up in Amador County don't miss this winery.

I enjoyed the wines here nothing over the top, but some very good ZIn's along with some interesting aglianico's. Friendly owners who were by far the most pleasant and welcoming that we met on our trip.

I've been buying the Zinfandel from this winery for many years and have a nice collection now. Their Zins never disappoint. I saw the other reviews but I don't go for the buildings or the grounds, just the wines. Always worth the trip.
