About
One of the most beautiful properties in the Sierra Foothills, Sierra Vista is true to its name with picturesque views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains & views all the way Mt. Diablo in San Francisco. An Eldorado original with a 45 year history featuring Rhone and Bordeaux estate wines & other varietals from around the world is only 15 minutes off Highway 50. Acres of rolling vineyards, a family oriented friendly atmosphere, an event room to plan your own event & numerous events around the year will sure to excite all. The estate wines are from ancient original rootstock with some lineage traces to the French regions of Cotie Rotie & Hermitage that create bolder more intense flavors that are true to their natural varietal. Sierra Vista has been making award winning wines since its inception and now has new family owners that are carrying on the tradition of the award winning wine making while further enhancing the estate to make it's guests enjoy their experience even more than ever.

I reserved a pod for my husband's birthday (first time "indoors" at a restaurant in a year thanks to Covid!) It was absolutely lovely. We tasted 6 wonderful wines (and ate yummy french bread pizza) while enjoying a gorgeous view of the snow-covered mountains. I highly recommend Sierra Vista for the wine and the unique experience.

I live around here, so I'm partial to our Pleasant Valley wineries. Nevertheless, John and Barbara are not only among the original EDC wine pioneers, they are Rhone grape variety pioneers in the USA, having planted some of the first commercial blocks of Syrah in the 1970s. John's wine are the hallmark of high-level consistency. His Viognier (a Rhone white) is known worldwide, and not to be missed.

The outside picnic area has a view of the Sierra Nevada range, and is a perfect destination for visitors to the EDC wine country.

My husband and I are now members of this hidden gem in El Dorado County. Friendly staff, great wine and amazing scenery! Plus, they throw great events and we can bring our 4-year-old for a picnic! It's our new go-to spot.

Some consider this the modern founder of the Rhone movement in El Dorado County, the proprietors are still there some 40 years into their dream, and the wines are still very good. Best is Grenache, Merlot and the Syrah's to my liking and not every wine is wonderful here the Chardonnay and Viognier are also quite good. I do buy their Sparkling Wine that I believe comes from offsite.

Barbara, John and their staff are some of the nicest staff, and the views from their property are amazing.

A true classic winery with a touch on Rhone, Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache.

Thank you! Sierra Vista has new Owners now. We have just completely remolded the Tasting Room, Wine Bottles, Glasses and opened a NEW EVENT ROOM!!! If you like Sparkling wine you should stop by this Saturday from 10am to 5pm to try our new sparkling wine, the new owner has created. All the sparkling wines were made onsite in 2019.

We recently stopped by this winery when looking for "something to do" over Labor Day. I enjoy the quaintness and simplicity of some of the older foothill wineries, and Sierra Vista in now on that list. The tasting room is small and simple and offers some nice merchandise. Most importantly, are the many wonderful wines produced by this little gem of a winery.

Quite frankly, there wasn't a wine on their menu that I DIDN'T like... Granted.. I am a "consumer", but I have been tasting wine in N. CA and other regions of the world for almost 30 years, so I have been able to develop some "likes" and "dislikes" throughout the years. I especially enjoyed the Chardonnay's, as well as the Cab's, zin's, and Syrah's...oh, and the dessert wine. I believe there is truly something for everyone at Sierra Vista Winery.

I was so impressed by the quality and prices of the wine, that I joined their wine club. They offer a variety of events, including barrel tasting, wine and cheese pairings, and other events which I look forward to enjoying in the future.

Sierra Vista doesn't go for the glitz, but rather puts their resources and efforts into producing a wide variety of wines at a great price..all delivered in a pleasant setting with great service. All in all, it is a delightful way to experience some great wine and make some new friends.

Featuring estate-grown varietals and blends, Sierra Vista has value-priced wines from El Dorado County including Zin, Merlot, Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet. Their GSM blend, Fleur de Montagne and their reserve Syrah were our favorites, but the good news is that you have a lot of choices.

This is one of the early wineries in the El Dorado region. It sits on top of hillside with a fantastic view of the Sierra. Very friendly staff in the tasting room. It's a 'must stop' location for several of our friends when they come to visit.
