If you mention the name El Dorado Orchards to anyone who has ever visited Apple Hill, in Camino, Ca. they will probably say, "Oh, that's the one with the train!" My girls are grown now, but just a couple of decades ago they were the girls waving at us as they circled the orchards and pond. Great place for people... More

Apple season is the best time to visit although it can be terribly busy. I am writing about my off season experience in July 2014. I needed a venue for my daughter's "Celebration of Life" event. The loss of our daughter at only 34 was devastating and planning for such an event has no joy. The folks at High Hill... More

While there isn't a lot to do here the rest of the year it comes alive when it's Apple Hill season.Food, people crafts presented in a friendly, family oriented atmosphere. The crafts fair has some of the finest handcrafted items you will find anywhere. Especially check out the hand made jewelry of Jewish Design in the am in building. Beautiful!... More

During apple season, late Aug thru Nov, the apple ranches in the Placerville are open to the public. Most ranches sell their share of fresh & delicious apples, fresh apple cider/juice, pies, bbq's, candies, arts & crafts. Our family loves High Hill Ranch they have all of the above plus some. There is a fairly large fishing pond that is... More

Get there early on weekend mornings to get the apple fritters before they sell out. Also fishing and pony rides for the kids.

I go every year during the fall for pies, apples, cider, candy and fudge and for the kids to play. They love fishing in the pond or riding the ponies. There are crafts from all the local vendors and the food is great and you can buy great gifts for the holidays.

High Hill is one of our favorite ranches! We especially love all the crafters and always find some treasure we can't live without. The caramel apples are huge and they offer many specialty food items. The pies are good and travel well. This ranch is ALWAYS crowded, even on weekdays and some parking is actually in the orchards. I would... More

This is where locals go for pie. They also serve food and have activities. Best to go mid-week during the season (Fall) as traffic on weekends is so bad you can't get near the entrance. If you need to go on a weekend, go in early September. Service is poor. It's not the servers but the way they have the... More
