This is a quiet tranquil walk with plenty of opportunities for bird watching. You can extend the tour around the water treatment final treating ponds. More birds and swans and no significant smell. People with atheism or allergies might want to skip this. We had a family member who had significant problems walking the loop around Schollenberg park. Dogs are... More

This is a great park for walking or a bike ride. The trail is just over 2 miles around with other trails that beach off of it. I use the trail for exercise but I often see people out there looking at birds, as there appears to be many different kinds.

Located on the southern edge of Petaluma, Shollenberger Park is a bird watcher and nature lover's paradise. With five distinct habitats - salt water marsh, brackish central pond, fresh water channels, riperian and uplands - the park is also a major bird migration rest stop. The flat trail around the park is only 2.2 miles long. The park is best... More

Schollenberger Park is a perfect spot on the outer fringes of Petaluma to stroll and look at a variety of birds and wildlife.

Had a lovely walk at Shollenberger. Took my dog. Saw lots of birds and their babies. Great walking along the river.

Shollenberger Park is yet another gift of living in Petaluma. It is beautiful wet lands that are protected for all to enjoy. There are 3 trails you can take to experience the natural beautify and wildlife, while walking or biking. The main trail is approximately 2 miles around. The other two trails branch off of the main trail. This time... More

It doesn't get much better than this for a slice of life with nature. Try taking it from the trail outside of the Sheraton Hotel, skirting the river, and culminating at the rusted bridge at Schollenberger...Walk the loop, and take in the natural habitat....making any day a gift, rain or shine.

The past few years have seen a dearth of waterfowl at Shollenberger due to the unprecedented drought. Finally, after a series of wonderful, rainy days, the little lake is filled and the birds are back. During a peaceful and relaxed one hour walk around the lake, I saw hundreds of various birds, from little, darting swallows to graceful, drifting swans.... More

when there is lots of water, lots of birds! You can start and end at the Sheraton. I went on a weekday so it was quiet, lots of benches to rest if necessary. Certainly worth a visit...or two!!
