While walking downtown Petaluma, my wife and I discovered Sonoma Portworks. The owners and portmakers (Bill and Caryn) are on-site most of the time. They are knowledgeable and delightful to interact with. their prices are great for quality ports and they even have grappa too!
Go enjoy yourself!

We had a great time at Sonoma Portworks. We've been wine tasting many times but this was our first time port tasting. This is a small, boutique operation. Amy was our server and she was knowledgeable and personable. The ports are very good and the Somomics vinegar was also delicious. We were driving through Petaluma and saw the sign for port tasting. I'm glad we stopped in.

we were looking for unique tasting opportunities while in the Santa Rosa area ..... too many wineries to even consider !!! and we were also looking for a birthday present for a port lover :-)
there are two tasting levels - complimentary tasting that excludes the reserves or $15 including the reserves, waived with a purchase .... there is an option to make a donation in lieu of a tasting fee .....
We were impressed by the smoothness of even the younger ports ! There were definite differences among the vintages, varietals, aging process. It was quite an education. There are even some fun things - grappa, almost vinegar ....
For the port lover, this is a must-visit location ......

Read the reviews and decided to take a visit. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. All the ports were very good. I was extremely impress with balsamic vinegar. It had a bright cabernet flavor with slight sweetness to it. I have already used it as a salad dress, dipping sauce and have cooked with it and drizzled it on shrimp The port wines were also amazing. This is definitely place you want to visit.

This is a really great place - and amazingly it is free. We were given lots of tasting options - even the good stuff and all for a donation to local charity - but only if you want to no pressure. Interesting variety, eve for a non port drinker - well worth dropping by.

Bill and his wife are so awesome. The experience of learning about port and how it's made was fabulous fun. We enjoyed the tasting but we especially enjoyed learning about how it's made and the different variations of process. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and welcoming. We join the port club and we're looking forward to getting our shipment when we return home.
There was no fee to do the tasting they instead have an optional donation to a local non profit. Love this idea!!

Very knowledgeable gentleman explains the ports we're tasting, and the grappas also. This is unique (because it's port rather than the wines), and it was a nice room with the big barrels. No charge! We bought a port and a port-infused vinegar, and ended up joining their club! And the proprietor made an excellent restaurant suggestion.

A must stop for port or grappa lovers. You can sample everything at no charge and the stuff is absolutely the best. They also have a port club where you can save 15% or more. They also carry "sonomic" an almost vinegar that's great for salads and other toppings. Located almost at the end of 2nd st

We found this place just down the street from our Hotel so we walked. I love this kind of wine and had a great time tasting. I am taking some home. Susie gave us good advice on things to do and music at night. We ended up seeing her two more times.
I liked that they were open on a weekday.

We used to visit SVPW occasionally for little tastes of divine port and to learn about how it's made. Bill is extremely knowledgable about all things port--equipment, fermentation, grapes, regions. It was fascinating. Sometimes there were little tastes of things that go well with particular ports. Now we're club members & go 3 times a year to port parties where we taste everything port, listen to good live music, schmooze, & pick up a couple of bottles of Bill's picks--at a discount! I just love this place.
