Whether you see it from the north, south or dead ahead, this is probably the best photo op you will find along the entire California coast. Take a few minutes and enjoy it.

Very pretty area, though the lighthouse has been closed for 20 years and doesn’t look to be opening soon. I recommend staying a couple of nights at the hostel and checking out the elephant seals!

The volunteer was extremely helpful answering all sorts of questions about the lighthouse, its history and current and future plans. The views from the lighthouse are wonderful and opportunities for some great photos abound.

Actually, I would recommend that you have a flashlight. There are lights around, but not a sufficient amount to really light up the area.
