Everywhere seems to mention pigeon point light house so we felt compelled to visit. What a waste of time. Although there are nice views, there are plenty of nicer views on route. The light house is fenced off so you look at a run down building in the mist. There are very few paths from here so you can't really... More

Pideon Point Lighthouse is an awesome place to visit. The view from the back area is breathtaking. We have never stayed in the Hostel but may consider it in the future. Be sure to check days that the store and museum are open because it is not always everyday. They have a picnic area also.

A big disappointment. Such a run down monument! The views are great, and it's free, but it's such a pity that this site hasn't been restored.

Another great California lighthouse. We stopped on a breezy, picture perfect day in April. The volunteers were helpful and informative, and everyone there at that hour got to see whales migrating up the coast.

My favorite lighthouse on the Pacific Coast. A beautiful structure on a beautiful setting and history as well. What more could you want? You could make a quick stop or spend more time and really soak in the history and beauty. It's well worth a visit.

This was a beautiful area overlooking the beach. You can see whales here during the migration times, April to about June, I believe. But apparently they saw some whales about 2 days before we got there. The volunteers here are very helpful and know alot about the history of this light house. And there is a little hotel you can... Made a quick 1/2 hour stop to see the 1008 crystal Fresnel lens. Neat stop to see this masterpiece and learn of the history of the light house.

Stopped by this historic lighthouse today while driving down highway 1. Awesome piece of history. The staff were very friendly and informative. Saw the sea lions basking on the rocks off the coast.
