Another great California lighthouse. We stopped on a breezy, picture perfect day in April. The volunteers were helpful and informative, and everyone there at that hour got to see whales migrating up the coast.

My favorite lighthouse on the Pacific Coast. A beautiful structure on a beautiful setting and history as well. What more could you want? You could make a quick stop or spend more time and really soak in the history and beauty. It's well worth a visit.

This was a beautiful area overlooking the beach. You can see whales here during the migration times, April to about June, I believe. But apparently they saw some whales about 2 days before we got there. The volunteers here are very helpful and know alot about the history of this light house. And there is a little hotel you can... Made a quick 1/2 hour stop to see the 1008 crystal Fresnel lens. Neat stop to see this masterpiece and learn of the history of the light house.

Stopped by this historic lighthouse today while driving down highway 1. Awesome piece of history. The staff were very friendly and informative. Saw the sea lions basking on the rocks off the coast.

Great place for watching for passing whales. Also has a youth hostel on site and I imagine waking up on the grounds of a lighthouse would be a great experience.

Though it was once beautiful, it now needs some maintenance. I understand they are trying to get funds for that. Beautiful view from the bottom of the lighthouse

Maybe it was us who had unreal expectations but when we found a place that had no parking spots available for 20-30 minutes and no access to the building we were disappointed and do not recommend it to anyone on vacation regardless of its history.

Along the hiway this lighthouse will stand tall - stop and take some time to walk the grounds. There's a pathway that takes you down to the beach. Then there's a pathway that takes you to just a short overlook for photos and then the longer pathway to walk around the lighthouse itself . You can't go into the lighthouse... More
