There are certainly times when this is an active beach to observe seals, but our visit in December was not one of them. As so often the case, Mother Nature has her own schedule. Still worth a quick stop to check out for activity.

What a beautiful sight. I wish I had brought binos and a book. I would have loved to have stayed for hours to just listen to the seals. Bring a chair. Bring a book. So relaxing. My camera had a pretty good zoom lens so I was able to watch them up close. Nature at its best. To get into 17mile drive where this is located costs $11 but they only take cash. Leave the credit card home.

There were a couple of seals during our visit that were basking in the sun on their rock. There were plenty of birds flying around and some standing tall on the rock with the seal.

Really wonderful place to see. Just like right out of a magazine or wall calendar. Truly spectacular.

Seal Rock Creek Beach is located a stop #8 on 17-Mile Drive which is a good stop to get out and walk the nice while sand beach. On the side is near the parking area is a large rock that is said to resemble a seal and, at low tide, there are opportunities to look for life in the tide pools among the rocky depressions in front of this larger rock formation. While this stop is nice, it is not as spectacular as the previous stop, Bird Rock, which many reviewers appear to have confused for this stop, and the beach at the next stop, Fanshell Beach, is much larger and nicer.

Seal Rock Creek beach is a white sand beach and it is 8th spot on the 17 Mile Drive and nearer to Bird rock. We were able to see sea lions and birds flying around.

During the summer I bet this little beach is jammed pack. It’s a pretty, small, cool-looking beach. You can hear the seals from there that are on nearby Bird Rock.

Our stop here during the 17 mile drive was marred by a very substantial Sea Fog, which made it very difficult to actually see the seals. The tide was quite rough and although they were playing in the water and you could certainly hear the cacophony of noise, the view was not good. On a clear day this will be an awesome place to stop and take a look at nature at its best.

Yes it is. There is other wonderful places near by to take other photos as well.
When you enter 17 mile drive, ask for the brochure on the drive.
It will highlight all the great places to photo in this area.
