About La Jolla Zip Zoom Zipline
Prepare for a great adventure on the Longest Zipline in California. If you are into Extreme Sports or Camping this is the place for you! Pauma Valley is now home to California’s longest zipline, the La Jolla Zip Zoom, which is located on the La Jolla Indian Campground. The foothills of the Palomar Mountain range have been a vacation destination since the La Jolla band of Luiseno Indians, who have lived in the area for thousands of years and are one of five California Luiseno tribes, opened a campground on their reservation there in the 1930’s. Now, in addition to renting a tire tube for splashing down the San Luis Rey river, guests can fly down the scenic zipline reaching speeds of up to 55 mph. About the La Jolla Zip Zoom Plan to spend 2.5 hours on a guided tour that includes four ziplines measuring a total of 6273 feet. The four courses range from 300 feet to 2500 feet in length. The side-by-side lines allow you to experience thrills next to a companion. Technology is state-of-the-art and is safe to zipline even in the rain (though wind and other extreme weather conditions may require cancellation of tours). A good ziplining tour isn’t just about thrills. Guests of the La Jolla Zip Zoom will learn from guides about the Pauma Valley, the La Jolla Indian Reservation and other tidbits. What to Wear Ziplining •Closed-toed shoes that can’t fall off your feet. Flip flops are a no-no •Comfortable shorts or pants •Helmets are provided so there’s no need for a hat •Lots of sunscreen •Sunglasses •A GoPro or other camera that you can attach via a wrist or chest strap (for example) and not worry about dropping or banging it on something It is also advisable to tie long hair back so that it’s not in your face at 55 mph. La Jolla Zip Zoom provides all equipment. Good to Know •Riders can be any age as long as they are between 65 – 275 lbs in weight and at least 48″ tall •Bookings can be made online (check for group discounts)

Overall: Incredible experience! It was exceptionally safe and the staff was very knowledgeable. We would rate it a 9/10. Detailed description: We stayed in San Diego and had 9am reservations on a Monday morning. It’s about an hour and 15 minute drive from downtown. They ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your reservation and there aren’t many places to stop/gas stations so if you have a morning reservation, plan accordingly. (Eat before, plan for traffic, etc.) Getting there isn’t for the faint of heart—the drive takes you up a mountain. A few cliff type lookout situations and it made my stomach fall out of my butt a few times. Making our way through the Indian Reservation, we arrived. I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous because I had no idea what to expect and the check in was in a converted shipping container (ha). Let me assure you, it was the only time I was ever concerned. The staff was INCREDIBLE. They were welcoming, made us feel comfortable and safe, and were very thorough with hooking us up. During our transportation to the first line, we were provided information about the wildlife, the mountain, the reservation, and telescope at the top of the mountain. The view as you make your way up is fabulous and breathtaking. It’s a real rush! Before and after each zip, we felt so safe and comfortable. There is quiet a bit of an anxiety before doing something like this and the staff was truly incredible. At no point did we feel as if they were being so-so with their safety measures. They were clear about what to expect, do’s and don’t’s, practiced our breaking stance, and just did a really phenomenal job. There are three lines to go down. Starting with line 1 at the highest point. The view was awesome and my go pro got a lot of really cool video. It’s kind of exactly what you would think: zipping through the sky at nearly 50mph. It’s the closest I’ll ever get to flying. All in all, this was a top experience for us. We’ve been to San Diego 4 or 5 times and this may even a reoccurring experience. My husband is NOT a thrill seeker and enjoyed every second of this. The view and the job the staff did made this experience top notch. We would highly encourage this and if it’s not already on your bucket list, add it!
