We visited Law Estates with friends that had visited previously. They had said that their previous visit was a really good experience. None of us could say so after this visit. The tasting experience promises a private tasting with one of their staff to discuss the wine, we got a fresh out of college young woman with inexperience to answer much. The wines are on the higher end with regards to pricing but good; still the impression is that they think more of their wines than they should. They poured shallow tastings and were told we exhausted our pours after asking to revisit only one and only for two of us. They also prompted us off the table after our tasting was concluded despite purchasing over $500 of wine and tipping well. The ingratitude made me want to return the purchase. Between us we have 9-10 memberships with wineries; this is not one we would add.

First class experience, starting with the table decor and host welcoming us by name with a glass at the top of the stairs. Blown away by the service and quality of wines here, not to mention the unique property and amazing views. Sign us up. We'll be back. Even on a busy holiday weekend with a huge party coming in behind us, we were treated as valued guests. Much appreciated.

Finally was able to make a reservation that fit with our schedule. Not real sure why they have the warnings since Google maps guided is right there. Beautiful tasting facility that matched a personal guide with your party for a guided tasting. The wines were well matched to our tastes (everyone is different so you need to decide for yourself), with a heavy emphasis on Grenache.

Our favorite winery in Paso. You know when you like the wines and join and then panic that maybe you were a little buzzed and maybe the wine wasn't all that? Well we did and when we got the shipment it was amazing, just as we remembered. They are almost all Rhone style reds but they are so smooth and deep. They also have a lovely rose and white blend.
Our second visit there as members confirmed the knowledge and hospitality of their hosts, the gorgeous site and the best wines in Paso honestly.
Book a visit. You won't regret it.

Just back from our first Paso trip. Visited 9 wineries. Law definitely one of the top 3 for us. Keith was great as our host. Our view was they're catering more to the serious wine drinker/buyer than those just looking for a place to park themselves for a few hours and chat away. This was perfect for us. All the wines were excellent (although unblended reserved for members so didn't try them). Would definitely revisit...

Law estate definitely is a luxury wine tasting room and experience. We had a fantastic time during our visit and the view was accommodated with amazing hospitality. The only downside was not being able to try their member wines.

Due to the stay at home order, Law Estate Wines brought the tasting to our Airbnb instead. Casey and Victoria were knowledgable, friendly, and professional. And Mariah helped us coordinate over the phone and she had great positive energy. Our group enjoyed all of their wines, especially the Audacious and Beyond Category. Pricey but we now have a great memory, so well worth it.

This is mostly a review on the new Law Estate Guest Cottage since it does not yet have its own TripAdvisor listing.

We had an opportunity to book the Guest Cottage for a special family birthday celebration over Labor Day Weekend. Although we more often frequent Napa and Sonoma wineries given their proximity to us, Paso Robles is ideally situated for our small family gatherings given it is equidistant from LA and the SF Bay Area where we all live. And with the COVID-19 pandemic, we felt a private cottage was much safer than a busy hotel over the holiday weekend. The staff assured us that the cottage is fully sanitized between guests. Indeed, they told us it was cleaned twice in the 11 days since the last guest had departed.

Located inside the Law Estate Wines property on Peachy Canyon Road, “cottage” is a bit of a misnomer. It’s more like a contemporary new house, just without a garage. As it was only opened completed in July 2020, the outdoor landscaping is not yet done. But the cottage itself is wonderful. It includes two spacious master bedroom suites, each with a king size bed and an en suite bathroom, plus a living room, gourmet kitchen with bar seating for four, and even a laundry room with washer and dryer. The living room/kitchen area has large sliding glass doors that lead to a patio with beautiful views of the vineyards and rolling hills. There is a large outdoor table with seating that looks like it could accommodate 8-10 people. There is good Wi-Fi throughout the cottage.

Although we didn’t cook during our stay, the kitchen has pretty much everything you need – a large built-in KitchenAid refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, Nespresso coffeemaker (with included coffee capsules), chilled reverse osmosis water dispenser, cooking utensils, silverware, cutting boards, knives, dishes, etc., and even a wine refrigerator stocked with Law Estate Wines, of course. Any bottles you drink are simply added to your bill.

The large TV in the living room has DirecTV satellite service and a surprisingly good Bose sound bar. However, a previous guest had unplugged the power from the DirecTV box and it had been left that way for at least a couple of weeks, so it needed a system “refresh” pushed to it from the satellite in order to get reactivated. That wasn’t a problem for us, since we preferred to stream movies at night anyway using my son's iPad and an HDMI adapter. Each of the bedrooms also has a smart TV that you can stream to using your laptop or phone. Wi-Fi bandwidth was excellent for streaming. Cell phone signal strength in the somewhat rural area is poor (at least for AT&T), so make sure you have Wi-Fi calling enabled on your phone. The flip side of being out in the country means the stars are just incredible at night!

As we drove two Tesla EVs, it would have been a pleasant bonus if there was an EV charger on site. Alas, no. However, many wineries in the Paso area have Tesla chargers and there are superchargers in nearby Atascadero and San Luis Obispo. There is also a standard 120V outlet outside the front door which one can use to top off if needed – but at that voltage, one adds only ~2 miles/hour.

Currently, all cottage reservations are made in advance by contacting the winery. You can self-check in anytime you want after 4 pm as you are given entry codes for both the Law Estate property gate (be sure to enter “#” before the number they give you) and the cottage itself (no “#” needed). Check out is at 11 am. I’m not sure if they routinely do this or not, but there was a lovely bouquet of fresh flowers awaiting us at the cottage and a personalized welcome sign. What a nice touch!

If you are a club member, there is a 25% discount on the daily rate through the end of 2020. Although we won our stay in a virtual tasting contest, $750/day seems reasonable for two couples sharing the cottage. Indeed, as maximum occupancy for the cottage is four people, our daughter stayed at a small, rustic cabin on another winery property for $350/night – not sized for more than one couple with a small child. Rates are comparable considering the two-couples size and luxurious accommodation.

Law Estate Wines is our favorite winery in the Paso Robles area. If you like premium Rhone-style wines, it is not to miss. We are members of their wine club, so we were especially pleased that they decided, after we booked our stay, that the same weekend would be their annual Fall Release weekend. Club members enjoyed the five 2017 vintage Fall Release wines plus Soph, their only white wine, along with food pairings at private outdoor tasting sessions. This was in lieu of their normal release party given the need to socially distance during the pandemic. While we were there, they found out that Jeb Dunnuck, a well-known wine critic with a particular expertise in Rhone wines, rated all of these release wines between 95 and 98 points. Addie Pitts, their hospitality manager and our personal host for the tasting, was just wonderful. Co-proprieter Susie Law and Oliver Espharam (general manager) stopped by to say hello. Even Sophia, Oliver’s daughter, stopped by to tell our granddaughter a kitty joke.

Our two grown children liked Law the best of the five Paso wineries we visited over the weekend - so much so that they both decided to join the wine club. Kudos to the Law team for outstanding wine and outstanding hospitality!

This is a boutique winery. It only distributes 8% to stores. Reservations are a must--- you have to have a gate code to enter the winery.

The setting is comparable to Daou's as far as a view. (You can see Daou from the back of the winery). The property is beautiful and the barrel room is gorgeous. I loved everything at Law Estate.

Fallon was our wine pourer and she was fabulous. She has extensive wine knowledge and we enjoyed hearing the history of the winery as well as other fun factoids.

The tastings were $30 pp and WELL WORTH THE PRICE. Since we were celebrating my twin's and my birthday, we got an extra special pouring or two of wines not included in the tasting. The First Track wine is superb. White wine lovers will like Sophie.

This was my favorite winery on this visit and I will be sure to visit again.

Went on a McLaren Police Escorted rally from LA to Laguna Seca. This was an amazing lunch stop. Did not try the wines, but what a beautiful location. I will definitely bring my wife on a couples trip for a more personal event.
