Tooth & Nail Wine Company is a family of wines united by one purpose: to take you beyond the status quo. Founded by grower Rob Murray, Tooth & Nail followed a path of grit and determination to find success in Paso Robles. Rather than battling nature, we bottled it— embracing the elements in the pursuit of excellence. Often polarizing but never ignored, our wines are the milestones of an unlikely journey. Join us at our house of wine in the Willow Creek District, where you can enjoy tasting flights and food pairings with estate vineyard views Sunday-Thursday 11-6 and Friday-Saturday 11-8. Or find us online at ToothandNailWine.com.

This review is for our March 2019 visit (yes a bit late). We visited during Zinfandel weekend. We stopped here because we have always seen this "castle" from the highway when visiting other wineries. I don't think this theme has aged well and its very obvious that this is in no way a real castle. However I did like a few of their wines... they were very unique. The downside besides the "castle" itself was that most of the wines were surprisingly expensive. The staff were very knowledgeable, but the whole place was a bit too informal for me. I am not sure I will ever be back with so many choices in SLO county.

I have probably done wine tasting in close to 100 venues and this was the best in terms of the venue the ambiance the WINE and the server, Kevin Varner. The building looks kind of Moorish. We sat out on a covered patio with great views and Kevin brought each wine out separately, explained the vintage and answered questions. We had the Unconventional Tasting which was $30 but the pours allowed 2 to share if desired.and loved every one of the pours. The labels are quite unique and well worth looking for.

We had the best time here! Amy provided us with an amazing tasting and taught us about the animated wine labels. Everyone at home (in North Carolina) has loved watching the animated labels! I appreciate her genuine personality and her desire to make sure we had a great time. We bought multiple bottles and can't wait to drink them on a special occasion! We also love tacos, so we were so glad to be able to enjoy a cheap lunch after a very thorough tasting. If we ever see these wines at our stores in NC, we will happily buy them.

We've been wine club members since our March 2019 visit. At that time, Tooth and Nail was a wonderful place to taste interesting wines, wander around and look at the super intriguing art and talk to some cool people. Since that time, they've sold off their more affordable imprint, Rabble, and deluged us with corporate-style marketing emails. Still, we included them as the grand-finale trip on our extended weekend of wine tasting in Paso Robles.
Upon arriving on 10/16/21, we saw that the place was an absolute zoo. We approached the hostess to give our name and asked very nicely if we could have a spot in the shade (there were many open) as I burn quite easily. She barely looked at us and barked, "You'll have to sit where I place you." Which was a wine barrel in a corner with two metal stools. The rest of the spots were actual tables with chairs. Our server, Paul, came up and I asked if I could move, and he was quite helpful in finding us a spot inside. Unfortunately, he was also serving outdoors and in the bar, which spread him quite thin. Not his fault at all, but it took us nearly TWO HOURS to taste six wines. I mentioned we were members and it was barely acknowledged. Not that I need a red carpet rolled out, but jeez. Finally, we just bellied up to the bar to taste our final wines to make it quicker/easier on Paul and to just get the hell out of there.
The first thing I did when I got home was go into my account with Tooth and Nail and cancelled my membership. No confirmation, email reply, nothing. A few days later I sent an email asking them to confirm that my membership was cancelled due to a horrific experience. I got a form reply in response. I will NEVER buy their wines again and will caution all who think that the gimmicky castle facade is enough to justify what has become a cattle call basic tourist experience with now-mediocre wines.

Cool atmosphere, but I came in on Saturday and I could not believe how cheap they pour. Never been to a winery that gave so little. For $30 I expect a bit more, when questioned the server, she was very short and somewhat rude about it. I think a $15 dollar charge is more suitable. Wines were good, but I was barley able to really enjoy. I wont be back. Went to Four Lanterns down the street and for $20 an awesome experience and tasting. Snotty vibe as well, not typical of Paso. Please spare me the line of not wanting people drunk, you winery is plain and simple cheap. For $30 I may have gotten half of a gloss of wine.... maybe.

Pros: the outside seating/castle is beautiful, i love the gothic aesthetic of the outside and labels, Karen gave wonderful service, was very knowledgeable and was so kind. Wine was good, I bought two bottles of the Grenache. Food was BALLER. - I recommend the sliders and garlic fries.
Cons: We had a reservation and checked in, the host forgot about us. We waited about 20 minutes while watching 5 other parties get seated before I went up to ask what was going on. The inside of this place does not match the outside at all; mismatch interior design, poor paint colors, weird graffiti art for their new label/concept that doesn’t match their esthetic at all, flies EVERYWHERE. i was expecting castle vibes inside- I was wrong. :/ this place has so much potential.

I had high hopes for this place, and purposely scheduled it as our last stop on a Friday. I had a reservation for 2, $30 each. A bit pricey, and it really was not worth it. Wines were unimpressive, service started out good....and went downhill fast. After a few tastings, that took over an hour, we decided we'd rather go somewhere else. Literally had to go searching for our server to close out tab. I was told I couldn't come inside, I couldn't go upstairs since I "didn't pay for it". Rude. THEN, the server is irritated that we are leaving, and hands me the bill, which we were charged $40 each. I told him my reservation was for $30 each but he told me I was wrong or confused, as it's "always been $40"...even though I had an email confirmation. Such a waste of time,

With over 200 wineries to pick from, which winery do you go to if you have 2 teenagers and a designated driver tagging along? This one for sure. You've probably not heard of them and never tasted their wine, so this is your chance!
First off, you pull into the lot and feel like you just landed in adult Disneyland. Castle and moat included. Walk up across the moat and tasting is on the patio or you can walk in and buy single tastes if you're short on time.
THE FOOD IS SPECTACULAR. What might look like a small menu packs a mean punch, everything we ordered was tasty and I would come back here again just for the food! The Irish nachos were on special for St Paddy's (corned beef, crispy Brussel sprouts and waffle potato fries covered with a special cheese sauce), and was so good I'm going to have to try to recreate that at home.
I was the DD so I didn't do the wine tasting but my husband enjoyed it and was surprised at how good the wines were for the price.

The castle and bottle labels are gorgeous and what they are know for, unfortunately the wine is not. The tastings are excessively overpriced and they heavily push their membership to the point it takes 30-45 min to checkout and it feels like a timeshare sales pitch. The whites were decent, and while we mostly drink red I have never dumped almost every glass of red like I did here. Extremely disappointed.

Sort of did this on a whim. Seaside tasting at Hearst was a bust so we tried this to get in a tasting. We didn't have reservations for this mid-week afternoon in May, but that wasn't a problem. We took an outdoor table while our tasting guide Kristin brought out a welcome tasting and showed us the menu. We ordered what turned out to be a nice charcuterie board while Kristin brought out each tasting, going to great lengths to describe the grapes, tastes, and unique bottle labels. We ended up buying two bottles from the tasting which we had shipped home. Not the cheapest tasting around, but I highly recommend visiting Tooth and Nail. Added bonus is that this tasting is at an actual vineyard, which you would think is common, but isn't always the case.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We're thrilled you chose to visit Tooth and Nail and that Kristin provided such an informative and enjoyable tasting. It's great to hear that you enjoyed our charcuterie board and found our wines and unique bottle labels to your liking. We're also happy that you appreciated the authentic vineyard setting. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we're delighted you took some of our wines home with you. We look forward to welcoming you back for another visit soon! Cheers!

I don't know if it's part of any organized tours, but it's very easy to get to independently (right on Hwy 46) and there are several other good wineries nearby.
