About
Le Cuvier is a boutique winery founded by Paso Robles legend John Munch. Committed to wild yeast fermentations, extensive neutral oak aging and dry-farmed fruit, Le Cuvier produces wines of a distinct character. Our standard tasting includes five wines with chef created food pairings. In addition to spectacular wine, our hilltop location features breathtaking views and outdoor seating. Please visit our website for current menus and hours of operation.

This was not a bad little winery, so not trying to throw shade, but it just didn’t have that one big wow factor that you’re looking for. We did the food/wine tasting and the pairings were very nice and artistically presented, although I would call them tiny bites. I like that they poured 3-4 of the flight glasses up front, so you could sip and move on at your leisure. The reading material about each wine was comical, bordering on straight up weird. So the tasting experience itself was good, just not great which = average. The biggest missed opportunity we saw was that they have their parking lot up high on the edge of a million dollar view and then you walk down to a very small patio with zero visibility, except where you look up at parked cars. Who designed that? Glad to have done it, but probably wouldn’t come back.

My wife & I first visited Le Cuvier over 20 years ago. We got to meet "The Legend", John Munch several times. On this visit, we got to visit with Clay Selkirk, the resident winemaker who was mentored y John (he's also an all-around cowboy). I've been touting Le Cuvier wines for over 2 decades and it's wonderful to see that the wines are all still exceptional! Clay sat with us, poured the wines and chatted with us like we were old friends! The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Do not miss a chance to visit!!!

We had the “original wine & food pairing” tasting experience.
Sitting outside on their patio provided a nice environment to enjoy the wines from Le Cuvier.
The parings were very tasty and complimented the wines perfectly.
The host was very knowledgable of the wines and vineyards they came from.

This place is amazing. Small food bites and wine pairing. The food, wine and service are outstanding. This is a must do! The food is really delicious. We lived the wine so much we ended up joining.

First of all, you can't beat the view. But that's typical of wineries in this area of Paso, mostly on top of ridges and hills, like this one. But the service here is always so friendly, and each wine is presented as a work of art. Not only are there thorough explanations, but there are food pairings with each one, and when you buy a wine, it actually comes with instructions on how to do a food pairing! Viognier is my favorite here, but they're all good.

We've been visiting Le Cuvier Winery for 5 years straight and up until this past weekend it has always been nothing short of a great expierence along with some of Paso Robles best wines ! On this past trip we visited the winery to be met with a very rude tasting person who essentially told us that they did not have time to pour wines for us ! I realize we had arrived 30 minutes prior to closing, but that is one of the things we like most about the Paso Robles wine area over Napa, its very friendly and casual. We essentially left without tasting any wine and are considering dropping our wine club membership !

Dear Rick T,
Thank you for your feedback. We are very disheartened to hear you had an unpleasant experience with us. It is against our policy to turn away guests before closing hours. As a direct-to-consumer winery, you are the cornerstone of our business and culture, and part of our extended Le Cuvier family. We would love more details about this--what day you arrived, who you spoke to, etc.--so that we can ensure this doesn't happen. If you could email me at katharine@lcwine.com, I would love to discuss your concerns and find a way to make it right. I hope you'll afford us this opportunity. Thank you again for your review, and for your patronage.
Best,

This has to be one of the most beautiful views in the Paso Robles area. Set high on a hill you can see for miles in all directions. Sitting in thier comfy chairs, enjoying a wine tasting is a great way to spend a little time!
Our wine pourer was knowledgeable and very personable. She obviously takes her wine seriously and the food pairings were an interesting touch - very creative offerings. I felt the wines were good but that the price point was a high for what they were.

Our apologies for the later response, but we had to thank you for your lovely review and feedback! We're so thrilled to hear you enjoyed the view from our adirondacks, and your overall tasting experience. Thank you for your insight on pricing as well. We just released a members-exclusive table wine at a very attractive pricepoint, for those who want to drink Le Cuvier every day. Something to keep in mind if you have or are considering joining our wine club. ;) Regardless, we hope you'll return to Paso and visit us again soon!

Our B&B hosts sent us here. What a great little place! We can't remember wine tasting anywhere else that we enjoyed ALL the wines poured. The owner/winemaker is doing his own thing after making wine for others, and the results are great. Lovely view from the chairs outside, to boot.
Don't believe the "members and guests only" sign on the driveway; that's just to satisfy the city because of limited parking on the top of the hill.
Enjoy! We decided to join their wine club and drop another to make room for it.

Le Cuvier came highly recommended to us by Chamisol and Kynsi wineries in Arroyo Grande (both amazing and worth a visit as well). But the wine at Le Cuvier was the highlight of our day trip to Paso Robles. There was such an elegance and artful craft to these wines... really difficult to put into words. But I must say that it certainly helped that they offered a free amuse-bouche food pairing that was created by a local chef... really brought each the wines to life.
So rather than purchasing all their wines and carting them back home I signed up for a membership. Could not be more pleased and looking forward to the first shipment in a couple of weeks. Highly recommend!

We do enjoy the wineries in Paso Robles, especially Le Cuvier, one of the premiere wine makers in the Valley. They are a true boutique winery, making small production lots of great varietals. They are a bit hard to find, on the west side of Paso, but worth the search.

Greetings Clarinetist,
We are so happy that you found us, and sincerely thank you for your kind words and rating. We are showing on our list a 74 case production 100% Petit Verdot for the next couple weeks. If you find yourself in the neighborhood stop by for a taste.
Thank you again!
Cheers,
