From warm and inviting to cold and industrial
Aug 2020
I visited Broken Earth's Tasting Room in April of 2018 and gave a 5-star review. Today I'm torn between a 2-star and a 3-star review; decided on three-star because the pandemic has made doing business difficult for everyone, so I'm cutting a wide swatch of slack.

When I visited in 2018, the Tasting Room was in the vineyards. The room itself was comfortable, warm and inviting, featuring lots of wood, brick and a hearth. Since then, they have moved the Tasting Room. It now sits alongside the highway. Instead of wood and brick, the interior is metal and exposed duct work. There is nothing warm or inviting about it. It is cold, industrial. Not my cup of tea.

One of my photo shows a choice of four flights but the day we visited -- and we had made our reservation weeks in advance -- only two flights were available.

The music was so loud that none of the four members of my group could hear each other. Evan poured the first wine and did his spiel, to which I replied, "I did not hear a single word you said. You really need to turn down the music or this isn't going to work." Nine Inch Nails blasting.

I've booked my 2021 hotel but I won't be going to Broken Earth Winery for wine tasting. Not my vibe.

Informative and huge selection--in a Huge Space
Dec 2019
This is a warehouse of wine tasting -- but still giving you personalized attention! There are a huge selection of wines to try -- with three different tasting menus, along with a pizza oven in the background to keep you humming along. Private areas for members blend with the large space, including sales of local items. Overall, this is a nice spot to stop by, be educated by the wine pourers, and enjoy a taste of local culture and wine.

Great wine and service
Aug 2019
We stopped by and enjoyed a great tasting. We purchased a few bottles of wine and really enjoyed our visit. I can't wait to go back the next time we are in Paso Robles. They should have their quick fire pizza up and running. It was beautiful inside.

New location - just getting going.

They have very recently moved to a new location, and they are in the process of getting it all set up. Easy access off the 101 freeway - it will become a nice stop. Tasty wine.

Wish I lived closer!

I would go to Broken Earth once a month! I love the wine-cheese pairing. It was incredible! My palate was in heaven. They really put forth a wonderful effort and expertise to provide very special cheeses to go appropriately with the particular wine.
Yes , it's closer to the highway, but once you divide in and part, that is all far behind. The sign is what caught my attention, on my way to San Luis Obispo last June. I'd never heard of Broken Earth before and was afraid I'd miss it on the way home. No way! The sign is awesome! Stands out nicely!. OMG! I fell for every wine I sampled. And brought 3 home. Just sorry I didn't get more. I've never joined any wine club and never would. But right now I'm ready to join BE's. It appears to have very reasonable guidelines and the wine is so good for moderate cost. THANK you Broken Earth! I had a great time by myself!

Friendly Winery

We stopped here on 28th while on vacation in California Very nice atmosphere. We were they the only customers in the tasting room at the time(they had just opened for the day). The lady who assisted us was great. When we expressed concerns about buying wine we liked and being able to get his home she was very helpful in giving us directions to the UPS store in Paso so we could ship it home-evidentially this is the only one in the area where individuals can ship to themselves. The wine was fantastic. Left with a couple bottles for the 4th of July holiday.

This was one of our favorite wineries and the prices are very reasonable. We very much enjoyed talking with Richard who gave us great local recommendations!

Wine and cheese pairing
Apr 2018 • Couples
You may just taste wine, or you can do a wine and cheese pairing, or a wine and chocolate pairing. I chose the wine and cheese, which was a great choice.

Trudy was helpful. All three employees were busy cleaning wine glasses and getting set up for the day, but they were friendly and made us feel fairly welcomed.

This is a beautiful facility and I could easily envision hosting a special event here.

Neat

Decent wine, charcuterie was cute and had good selection. It's right next to the freeway which was less attractive compared to the prior ones we visited. Service is great.
Grab their oleo lotion, it's one of the best in my opinion

Award Winning Wines and a Great Tasting Room
Mar 2018 • Couples
Stopped by in the rain on Saturday with my wife. We are locals so we drive by it all the time. Broken Earth Winery is a gorgeous location. It looks amazing from the street as well as from inside the tasting room. Surprisingly quite a few people tasting in the rain, but what else are you going to do when it rains. The tasting room employees handled the multiple groups in the tasting room while also serving food. We differently didn’t feel ignored and we were well taken care of. It was a very relaxing, friendly and fun atmosphere for such a breath taking location.

The wines were also very good as well. I’m a huge fan of reds and they had some solid choices. My favorite was their 2014 Diablo Negro aka Black Devil. Did not disappoint. We did not try any of the food. We showed up just after lunch on Saturday. Next time we will have to stay for lunch. It was a good visit to Broken Earth and we will definitely be back.
