We always love visiting this winery. We have also been to several winery dinners here. The food and wine and especially the people are outstanding. These wines hold up very well to age!

An unpretentious winery off Hwy 46 on a hard pan road. Kind of reminiscent of Italy. Our wine tour was limping along on a Tuesday with many of the wineries closed. But prompted by a comment about Italian wine, our guide suggested Fratelli Perata. We totally lucked out. Each of the several wines we tasted stood on its own as a great example of full-bodied Italian red wine. After much discussion and sampling, we decided on a bottle of 2015 Merlot. Funny that we had also favored a Merlot during a wine tour in Chianti in 2015. Now if we can just be patient and wait for that special meal.
We highly recommend this winery, and the many favorable reviews are spot on.
I do wish that the Barbera had been open awhile longer. Plenty of promise.

A true gem among the 400 wineries in the Paso AVA

We just returned from another three-day trip to Paso Robles and a highlight was a picnic lunch at Fratelli Perata. We always stop there for their terrific dry-farmed Italian varieties, but our visit this time was the best ever. Wonderful hospitality at this small, family-run winery, and a wonderful picnic spot on their sun-filled deck. These folks were among a handful of the wine pioneers who started things in the Paso AVA so it's always a treat to be able to pay our respects to the founders!

I know what I like, and I like this winery

Been here twice now and it is my favorite in the Templeton Gap. Friendly family with lots of knowledge. I enjoyed all of the wines I tasted here. Joined the wine club so I can' enjoy the wine all year long. The Barbera was by far my favorite.

Normally a 5

The current vintage they were pouring, just was a really fruity compared to some older vintages, hence I had to give them a 4 instead of a 5. I do love that you still get to taste the wine makers here, as many places have gotten really big in the last few years. I always look forward to tasting here, as it is really different then all the other places in Paso.

One of the best wineries in Paso Robles.

Dry farmed grapes make their wines full of flavor along with generations of wine makers. This family owned winery of Italian varietals will make it a stop you won't forget.

Not impressive from the outside, a little bit "too homey", as in untidy outside, but the plus side is that it is not commercialized at all!

The wines speak for themselves - forget what you see around you, forget the expectations of a posh wine tasting room, etc - once you taste the wines, you will be transported to Italy, and the good life there! $15 for a flight of 5 or 6 different wines, each of them complex and lovely in their own right. We ended up with their Barbera, and was almost tempted to sign up for club membership except that we already had a few signed up, and bottles were rattling in the trunk! Exceptional wines that is probably worth considering. Reminded me of what the Italian wines tasted like, as opposed to the commercial ones that I get at wine stores in the cities. That said, the only other consideration for me to join the wine club, is that the wines in the club would probably need a year to 2 years of resting to do it justice - I am too greedy to wait so I will just come down and buy the bottles that have already been stored previously!

We met their "assistant" winemaker, one of the daughters of the owner - a very knowledgeable, passionate and friendly young lady who can tell you all about wines if you have the time to chat with her!

Big money in recent years has had a not entirely positive impact on Paso Robles beautiful wine country...but if you enjoy boutique wineries, tasting bold red wines, discussing grapes with the vintners, then you must visit Carole at Fratelli Perata Winery...

If you love Italian wines
Nov 2017 • Couples
Off a gravel road and not fancy, you will not be impressed by a well manicured garden or a beautiful building. So what. It should be about the wine and not the other stuff. This family winery is keeping it real, focusing on bringing forth Italian varieties to their potential in California, unfiltered and without overwhelming oak. Also there is some varietals that aren’t Italian.

hidden gem with loyal visitors.

A real hidden gem, not fancy and this stands out among other tasting rooms. You taste in what seems like someones expanded kitchen. What it may lack in "showroom" the place is family run and they take pride and make good wines. Worth the visit.
