Outstanding Pinots

This was by far our favorite Pinot Noir winery. Every Pinot we tasted was excellent and everything is estate grown on their 15 acres.

Specialty family winery
Feb 2020 • Couples
This is a hidden gem of a family winery that produces only about 1500 cases per year. They only produce Pinot Noir wine from what they grow on their property. So your wine tasting experience will be "vertical tasting" of nothing but different vintages of Pinot Noir. What fun that was. If you can go on a weekday or early (10:30 am) on a weekend you'll have a great experience. We went on a Thursday and had the owner's son, Justin, to ourselves for almost an hour. He was wonderful giving us history of the winery, his family and the region. We will be back for more of their Pinot Noir.

A Pinot Noir haven

Windward winery is a relatively small, family-owned winery that focuses exclusively on Pinot Noir, and even more narrowly, on Burgundy-style Pinot Noir. They accomplish this to a large extent and a visit to the Tasting room offers you the opportunity of a vertical tasting. The small tasting room is surrounded by lovely gardens, with lavender taking a prominent place.

ONLY Pinot Noir wines...

They ONLY grow Pinot Noir grapes. These are the very best Pinot Noir wines we have ever tasted. We highly recommend that you splurge and buy one or two of their Library offerings.

Great if you like pinots--- exclusively pinots!
Feb 2019 • Family
Nice small winery- has a small tasting room with bocce outside and several tables outside. The folks there were very very friendly. The owner's son was there along with another very nice woman. Very small and family oriented. Not corporate at all.

We found them because we love Pinot Noir and they are exclusively pinot- strange for this hot area, but their grapes are grown in an area with wind from the ocean so it's a bit cooler.

Only critique is that it would be nice to have some tables inside-- we were there on a rainy day when we couldn't sit at the tables outside. But, it's a minor nit in an otherwise great place to stop.

A must visit if you like Pinot Noir
Dec 2018 • Couples
Windward specializes in Pinot Noir. We have found consistent high quality during our visits -- for nearly twenty years. If you like Pinot Noir this will become one of your favorite wineries. The staff are helpful and friendly. Because it is a bit isolated, you do not find the huge crowds -- a visit is a pleasant relaxing experience.

Great Pinot Noir!

Family-run winery, beautiful grounds (perfect for a picnic!) and a lovely tasting room. They only produce Pinot Noir, so it's fascinating to do a vertical tasting of Pinots from 6 years in a row!

Super friendly and absolutely delicious

Stopped by Windward toward the end of the day and what a super finish. The vertical flight tasting was $10 and I liked every single one. The passion shows as talk and discussion lead to some special tasting. Super friendly staff and atmosphere. Highly recommend + you get to taste the central coast for more than big jammy reds (which I love as well). Can’t go wrong here.

The Best Pinot Noir Around
Mar 2017 • Friends
One of our last stops along the way during our day trip of wine tasting. It’s lovely how they use a vertical wine tasting, starting with most recent years (which was delightful) and worked our way to the oldest wines they had to sample. Marc opened an even older wine and it was so perfect paired with the well thought out cheese that was set out for the day. They are very knowledgeable and friendly!
