We have been members of our anastates on and off for the last nine or 10 years. Rogers wines are always consistently good. If you like the French style, intimate, winetasting experience in his home, and you’re willing to lay the wine down for a little bit… This Winery is for you we highly recommend it.

Best winery we went to in Paso hands down (out of a dozen we tasted). Much more subtle, complex wines than most in Paso. You have to make an appointment but can do so not too far in advance (we did the day before). The whole experience makes you feel like you're on top of the world - extremely personal service, the long drive up to the estate with no signs and then a gate, and the Burgundy and Bordeaux style wines to taste. We preferred the Pinots and the Chablis-like Chardonnay, but the left and right bank Bordeaux blends were very good, too. Loved meeting Claire who poured for us. Kid friendly.

The owner, Roger Nicolas, truly knows his stuff. Roger is a Breton (born and raised in Brittany, France). The vineyard itself is pretty small, but he very selectively buys in grapes from others, and produces a relatively small amount of very very good red wine. You will not see his wines in supermarkets or even specialist wine shops. His labels are understated -- nothing flashy. It's all in the wine. You'll have to make an appointment to taste his wines but it is well worth it. On special occasions, Octoberfest for instance, you might be lucky enough to get an invite. The last time we were there tasting was accompanied by a superb selection of cheeses. I don't know where he gets his cheese, but I've never tasted anything as good in the USA. Better still join his wine club and attend the pick up parties. Incidentally Roger is a great guy, and the perfect host. His wines are not cheap ($35-$60 a bottle) but you'll not find better value for money in Paso Robles. Lastly his home is a delight to visit. An old farmhouse style single story home, full of quaint and comfortable furnishings, with beautiful vies of the countryside.

My wife and I were driving around Paso Robles looking up best Pinos in the area and RN popped up. We called and they only take reservations for private tastings. We said ok. They had one in 10 mins. Perfect. No sign on the main road (River Rd), just a mail box. Drive up to the gate, put in the code, and we head in. Tasting room, and private residence are one in the same here. Long story short . . . . Quiet, personal, great view, wines were amazing. Great Pinos. Pricey for sure, but they are good. Good place to take people who LOVE wine or want a private wine tasting experience.

I'm so happy other people have discovered RN Estate. It's a hidden gem I was told about 5 years ago. The first two years we tried to make an appointment but our schedules did not align. We have now tasted there several times and love his wines. It's the only wine club we belong too. I do wish more Paso wineries would let you buy single bottles or allocation vs a club which is becoming outdated. However, he specializes in lower alcohol wines and is Cuvee's are my favorite and his PInot's. Ask any of the wineries in Paso - even they like to taste at his house. We love it.

Went to J Lohr and RN winery. J Lohr had some good wine. The RN winery was a 10. The owner Rodger Nichols was about as Knowledgeable as anyone I have ever met. RN makes some of the Pinots I have ever tasted also with some young and old vine Zinfandels, the also have several others that are 5 star. You will never find them in a store as they are a very limted production 200 cases 145 cases etc. Everyone of the wines I tasted were rated by others at 90 or better,

You must make an appointment with Roger for a tasting, but this was probably our most memorable wine tasting in Paso Robles. His house sits on top of a hill with practically a 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside. The tasting is done in his own private dining room. And the wines? Fantastic! We bought several bottles to be shipped back to our home. His blends and Pinos were superb!

RN Estate is a must-stop for any Paso wine fan. Roger prides himself on having wine with lower alcohol content and excellent balance and fruit and the results are spectacular. You don't see many Pinot Noirs coming out of Paso labels, but RN Estate's pinots (with fruit from the Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley) stand right up there with some of the truly amazing Caneros and Wilamette Valley pinots I have had.

In addition to the pinots, Roger has some truly amazing blends. I am particularly a fan of his "Cuvee des Trois Cepages"--- a blend of Cab, Merlot, and Cab Franc.

Wine tastings are by appointment only, so if you are in Paso or coming for a visit, give Roger a call and set up a time to go and taste his amazing wines!
