I always enjoy visiting Oso Libre Winery, the wine is delicious, the pourers knowledgeable and friendly, and the setting is gorgeous. The tasting room and patio overlook the pastures where their angus beef cattle and sheep roam, the vineyards, and their wind turbine that powers their winery and tasting areas. All in all, Oso Libre is a don't miss location for wine tasting.

The 8 of us had a wonderful time at Oso Libre. It's a beautiful farm and was very different than all of our other, more modern winery stops. We loved all of the reds and wish we had booked the elevated experience in advance, but loved what we had for the regular tasting. They have a great price point and we loved the reds as much as all the other places we stopped! I would highly recommend this as a stop to give some contrast to the other wineries in the area. This was one of our favorite stops!

We first heard about this winery a couple years ago and finally made it. Definitely off the main path but was a pleasant drive up. Ashley was very helpful and knowledgeable on the wines we tasted. Literally every wine was just straight up delicious. Then Mike the wine maker came out and chatted it up with us for awhile. I always love getting to talk to the actual wine maker and pick their brains because I find what they do fascinating, while my wife rolls her eyes begging me to let this poor man get on with his day, but Mike was super cool and talked about his wines and how he got his start. Bought two bottles and can’t wait to come back. Also we had our dog and they brought her own on oso libre water bowl haha. Driving in we saw some alpacas which was cool also.

There are 4 of us on a ladies wine trip here in Paso Robles. We are all here from Livermore California, which is also a little wine town. None of us have ever been here before and are so excited to check out some of the tucked away wineries- including Oso Libre. We had been recommended by a couple of people to come to this winery. What a cute tasting room and such beautiful ambiance!
When arriving we were helped out by Jeanine. She was pleasant and nice and began giving us a little history about the property. A man named Jeff that works there came by to offer a hello as well and welcome us. It was going very well- we were enjoying the wine and having a good time. Then a gal named Ashley came in to take over for Jeanine. This is when our visit turned sour. She was very unpleasant and made us all feel as if we were putting her out by being there. Quite frankly she had an attitude. How does such a sweet place that’s completely off of the beaten path have someone treating guests the way she made all of us feel? We each bought a bottle or two to take home with us, but quite honestly none of us feel as if we would go back. Even with the pleasant experience in the beginning it’s also very important to remember that a guests’ experience isn’t over until they walk out and drive away.

Hello Dawn,
I must first say thank you for the 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 that likely we deserved. I say that because I know how important it is to not just enjoy the winery and the wines but the staff makes or breaks the deal. Jeanine is an awesome team member and Jeff is my son and the GM and Winemaker. Ashley was obviously not having a good day and for that I am sorry. She is a important part of our team as well and in fact had worked a 7 day week (along with an evening event) when you met her. That is absolutely no excuse for her inappropriate attitude. What I hope you will do is magically forget your last 20 minutes or so and only remember the first half!! :) Please try us again as our wines hopefully will trick you into a return visit. You will be my guest as I love a challenge! We will share this with Ashley and use it as constructive learning tool.
Thank you,
Chris Behr CEO/Winemaker and Co/Founder of Oso Libre Ranch and Winery

They have the friendliest staff. The owners are always walking around greeting guests and making sure everyone is happy. Great wines for a reasonable price and their burgers are awesome! Simple burgers with just cheese, onions and aioli on a quality bun. We always end up with a case of meat as well as a case or 2 of wine.

We visited Oso Libre on a Saturday, and despite it not being busy at all, we did not feel very welcomed. As we walked in, one of the females pouring looked directly at me and did not say one word. We walked over to the other side and were welcomed by the man. After a little small talk, we were finished with out tasting and no one came back to check on us. We left cash for the tasting on the counter and the woman came over grabbed the cash said something along the lines of "that was weird" as we walked away. We had bought bottles at every single winery we visited that day and planned to purchase here as well because the wine was actually very good. Could have been a weird one-off situation, I just wish we would have been welcomed and treated a little nicer!

Hello Britney,
I do not know if I met you but I am sorry for your poor experience here as there is no excuse for it period. My name is Chris Behr the owner and if you met me you might recall as I would have been the rather old grey haired man running around (best way to describe me). Please give us another try as my guest by just emailing me first when you are coming at chris@osolibre.com. We had Reggie (older like me) and Ashley (young like you) working last Saturday. Please if you will let me know who was responsible so that I can properly address the poor service. it helps us to prevent it from occurring in the future.
Thank You Chris Behr

Stopped by Oso Libre on a private limo wine tasting tour with my 2 friends because our limo driver asked if we liked animals. Of course we do! And boy does Oso Libre have them! Alpacas and the sweetest dogs on site. The winery itself is set back on a gorgeous plot of land with a totally cool wine tasting room. Very intimate, but open air. Tons of tables to sit outside and enjoy the fabulous wine and pets the dogs. The owner was working in the tasting room along with his son or son-in-law I believe. They are a bunch of fun people! It was the best winery out of the 5 we stopped at that day and the most fun! It is a MUST STOP while in Paso! The drive there is simply gorgeous too!!

Not like the pizzazz of Justin’s or the Niner or Daou but a nice drive and cool natural vibe. The wine is pricey but good.

Our group of 9 had a great experience at Oso Libre. First of all, the grounds are lovely with sheep, cows, and alpacas. The wines we tried were delicious and a few of us signed up for the wine club. Chris (the owner) and Matt could not have been nicer or more attentive. When we asked for restaurant recommendations, they even helped us get reservations at a very hard-to-get-into and wonderful restaurant! Do not miss Oso Libre if you are doing the Paso Robles wine trail..
