I recently took the "Best of Pasadena" Tour with the Pasadena Tour Company, who opened their doors in October 2011. The 2-hour tour began and ended at the Pasadena Convention Center, where I was greeted by our very personable guide and whisked away in a brand new Mercedes-Benz coach. A canvas tote bag with water and pretzels was awaiting me in my comfortable seat.

The tour began immediately as we turned onto Colorado Boulevard (also known as Route 66), coupled with background music appropriate for the era. Having been a resident of Pasadena for 7 years, I was pleasantly surprised to find out so many interesting facts about the architecture, landscape and history of Pasadena. The bulk of the tour focuses on the famous architects and their work (Greene and Greene, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Wallace Neff to name a few), but there are stories shared in detail of specific houses and commercial buildings as well as famous residents and notable filming locations. All carefully put together in a timely 2-hour tour. I would definitely suggest this tour to anyone who's interested in learning more about this hidden gem we call Pasadena--who knew there was so much history here? I left the tour a proud resident with many interesting facts for conversation. The next time family or friends come to visit, I'm taking them on this tour.

Kristin Stone gave us a great tour of Pasadena in her comfortable van/bus. We checked out various neighborhoods around the city, where she shared her extensiive knowledge of the history, architecture and famous families of Pasadena. We also saw homes that were used in movies and TV series. Kristin is a very entertaining guide. She is very comfortable in her role as hostess. I felt like a VIP, and I would highly recommend her tour to anyone visiting the Pasadena area! I really learned a lot about the city, the sights, and architecture.

This was an amazing two-hour tour of sites and homes of Pasadena. I was not sure I would like it as I am not that into architecture, but Wow was I amazed. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and was able to keep us mesmerized by weaving stories of the homes as well as the history of the architecture into the area. Highly recommended!

After three-weeks of leaving over six message looking for availability to serve a private party, I give up. Obviously, Kristen sees this more as a hobby than a business (not only are calls not returned, there is no email on their web site!).

Too bad there is not more competition for Pasdena tours. Looks like there is so much demand service can be abysmal.

It sounds like it could be a good tour if you can ever connect with the owner. Best of luck!

My sincerest apologies for not connecting with you. It is my utmost importance that our guests and future guests are met with courteous and efficient service. Although it doesn't excuse our not meeting your needs, our tour company is transitioning to an Eco-friendly company. While In the process, our communication systems - website, phone and an email has been effected. I anticipate in the coming month to have all technological issues fixed and an announcement on our website of new walking tours of Pasadena's architecturally significant neighborhoods. I'm sorry we let you down and I hope you'll consider us again.

We recently took this tour on our first visit to Pasadena. It was fantastic and I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you love architecture and design. We also enjoyed hearing about some of the history of Pasadena as well as seeing some famous homes used in movies and t.v. Our tour guide was great, very professional and easy to listen to and ready to answer any questions, just a very friendly and genuine person. Great tour highly highly recommend.

My wife and I are huge Arts & Crafts aficionados, and have never been to Pasadena. I called Kristin on a whim just before we left from Baltimore. She answered after the first ring and set up a tour of the Gamble House neighborhood (inappropriately named "Little Switzerland"). Her tour was pretty much the first thing we did after we arrived. What a great introduction to Pasadena! She was super friendly and accommodating on the phone and that personality carried through on our tour. We met in front of the Gamble House, and we could tell right away that she shared our love for the style. She is super knowledgable on the subject and led us on a fascinating walking tour of the neighborhood, which includes a number of other Greene & Greene houses, as well as those of one of their rivals. She showed is some great views of the valley that the neighborhood overlooks, which includes the Rose Bowl, and made some other recommendations for drive-bys in other areas of the city, such as Frank Lloyd Wright's Millard House, G&G's Blacker House (beautiful!) and Culbertson House. And thanks, Kristin, for the recommendation for wine after our tour at the Raymond Restaurant, which is an architectural gem in itself! We did the actual Gamble House tour the next day, which is also a must-see.

My family spent a great morning exploring Pasadena with Kristin, who was exceptionally warm and knowledgeable. She covered history, architecture, nature, sports and Pasadena's ties to TV and the movies. She found something to connect on with everyone in my family, from the Gamble House (for which she is a docent) for my craftsman-loving husband and a visit to the bust of Jackie Robinson (who is apparently a Pasadena native) for my son the baseball fan. She told great stories, added fun facts and showed us places off the beaten path. I highly recommend taking this tour!

You know the group tours, the ones that are boring, boring, boring! This one is NOT BORING! This is the best tour we have been on because Kristin loves her job. Yes, you can tell she does because she is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and makes the whole tour really enjoyable. The van is so comfortable with large windows so you can really view everything. We plan to return for more tours! Thanks, Pasadena Tour Company!
