This parade is beautiful! I've seen it from the stands and from the sidewalk, but it's always great. And sometimes really cold. Regardless of that everyone who can should see it at least once. It's such a fun event to experience with your family or...More

I have seen the parade on TV many times but never in person....what a treat! So incredible to view all the floats up close and see the bands perform right in front of us. We will definitely be back again!

While visiting the small town of Sierra Madre, we had the opportunity to visit the site where their float was being decorated and even got to participate in the decorating activity. The night before the parade, the float was brought to the center of town...More

Went on a tour for the parade and think it was a wise choice not knowing the ins and outs of the area. Went to the warehouses where the floats were being made (this could be done before and after the parade), toured the Queen...More

We made reservations for seats and parking through First United Methodist Church . The church first offers the seats and parking to parishioners and then the public. We had a pancake breakfast for $9, listened to piano and organ music in the sanctuary until parade...More

I generally dislike and avoid parades but having been to the Rose Parade three different occasions now, I must wholeheartedly recommend this as a must see event. My family of four attended the most recent (2019) parade and were impressed with everything from the organization...More

Our family didn't fancy camping out to get a good viewing spot, paying hundreds of dollars for seats or waiting long periods for the Rose Bowl Parade to begin so we opted for a tour of the floats being constructed a couple of days before...More

This had been on my bucket list for year. It surpassed my expectations in every way. The detail and size of the beautiful floats are not done justice on a TV screen. Also, many more bands and horses than on TV. Go in person! You...More

I know that we were on a tour but we were about twelve minutes into the parade on the east side of the street. Better for pictures. At that location the parade is moving normally. if you can get into the fifth row or a... More

Our tour with Al Brooks included bus and hot chocolate to the parade with amazing seats in the grandstands. Our hotel was in Long Beach. It was an early morning and very well planned.

Preparade Float Building Sites (6 Replies)
May I have recommendations regarding the Rose Parade float building sites? We have purchased our tickets and would like comments to reach a decision as to where we should visit. My husband and I are in our late 50s/early 60s/along with our 25 year old daughter.

2010 Rose Parade advice (11 Replies)
We'll be attending the 2010 Rose Parade as our capstone to a week staying down in Oceanside, and have a flight out of LAX at 2:25pm on Jan 1. I don't envision a problem with that but wanted some related advice. I picked up tix to seating on the early side of the parade (so we can get out easier) at 164 S Orange, and parking nearby at 151 S De Lacey. Given traffic and congestion, what approx time will we want to leave Oceanside to get parked and be in the grandstand for the parade? I would...More

I am glad you dont envision any problems. I am assuming you are driving, will you get dropped off at LAX or would you have to return your rental car first? I know these are little questions but it might be important to know in regards of your time management Also dont underestimate a million plus people along the parade route. There might be no rush hour traffic along the freeway, but at 11 am in the morning, there will still be plenty of people on it. As for the most direct route from...More
Rose Parade 2013 (69 Replies)
We will be arriving by Amtrak from Spokane, Washington. 1. Will this work? We would stay in the downtown area close to Union State. Morning of the parade we would take the Gold Line to Pasadena. 2. What stop is best for getting off the Gold LIne? 3. What time does the Gold Line starting running for the day? 4. Is it best to purchase a ticket for grandstand seating or arrive early on that morning to stay along the parade route? Thank you for your help.

1. Yes, it will work. Try to make your reservation soon. The Miyako in Little Tokyo-- well regarded by some locals on this site-- is moderately priced, in a great pedestrian-friendly location near restaurants, and very near the Little Tokyo Gold Line station. Not far from Union Station. So that's one option. 2. Get off at Lake Avenue, or next best, Allen. Walk down to Colorado, find a place on the sidewalk. Easy as pie. If you get off at the stations that are closer to the beginning of the...More
