The Campus of this world-renowned University encompassing 8000 acres is massive and sprawling – a delight to natives and visitors alike.
The architecture with its lovely blend of modern and traditional is impressive and memorable. The Hoover Tower stands out, and the atmosphere in and around the pretty Church is electric. The unique Rodin Sculptures scattered everywhere are a nice touch. Everything is really well maintained. The Fountain was flowing and the Rose Garden was fragrant.
We wanted to go up to the top on the Tower, but the place was closed on the day that we visited. Maybe, it will give us something to look forward to on our next visit.
There is always a lot to see here. This stop-in / walk around last month was our third trip to this University in 40 years, and every visit has been etched in our memories.
Absolutely worth a visit – as a student, as a parent, or just simply as a tourist. The best part is that it is very close to University Avenue which is filled with fantastic Stores and wonderful Restaurants.

From the cactus garden to the gates, building and architecture, Stanford is accessible and worth seeing. A drive around from the Quarry street entrance around to Sandhill, you can get the scope of this university, yet maintain safety, distance and privacy of patients and students. Its an active camp[us, even with about 1/4 student body and faculty/staff.

It was my second time visiting Stanford University, this time with my husband and my old friend. The campus is like a little town, so be prepared to walk pretty long distances.
The Auguste Rodin’s sculpture garden is certainly a highlight - many familiar sculptures, all of them so powerful… Too bad the Cantor Arts Center was closed…
Stanford University church is another highlight - loved the stained glass windows and imposing architecture.
We didn’t climb the Hoover Tower (was closed) but admired the view of it…though it didn’t impress me from the architectural point of view.
The real highlight was the students of Stanford. I can only imagine how hard it was to get into one of the most famous universities in the world and they did it. They are our future.

Stanford is a really beautiful college campus. You could easily spend a half a day touring the area and seeing the sights. They have a beautiful church, Fountains, Rodin Sculpture Garden, Great architecture and beautiful gardens. Since it is also free it is a great budget item as well. The entire campus is done in taste and was immaculately clean we were visiting. It has something for art lovers, architecture fans, gardeners and future scholars. Really a great attraction.

One of the most beautiful, clean, YUGE! spread out campuses I have been on.
My son goes here and was visiting in end Jan/Feb. What an incredible campus.
While pandemic only allowed me to see the buildings from outside, it was incredible.
I walked around myself, rented a bike and cycled with my son.
The weather was cold but incredible. Sunny each day. Tried the food courts, went to his dorm. Was like a Star hotel!
The campus as said, clean, wide roads, clean! no cars in most zones, everyone on electric skateboards, scooters, walking, cycling. Amazing.
And to be the most amongst the most premium University in the world?
What a fabulous combination.
I bought out the bookstore probably!

The campus is beautiful-so much to see and so much history. Just walking the arcades and soaking in the beauty of the quads is worth the trip. On top of that, there are lovely art pieces and cultured gardens tucked all over campus. The church is breathtaking and such a peaceful place.

This campus is lovely. It’s very large so be prepared to walk. Whatever you do, don’t miss the Rodin Sculpture Garden. Also know that the famous Rodin sculpture, the Burghers of Calais is not in that garden, but rather near the main quad. The main quad wasn’t what I expected, being all concrete. The beauty really lies in the rest of the campus with numerous beautiful green spaces between the buildings. Also, if possible, check out the campus bookstore. The kids that get to go to college here are so lucky!

The university has sort of a celebrity status in the business world. However, there are other aspects of the campus too which are impressive. To start with it is a very large one with open spaces and plenty of greenery. It has an eco friendly look about it. The group of bells atop Hoover tower is amazing. The bells which ring based on the notes played in the piano in the sound proof room below i s believed to be heard over a mile away. The displays in the ground floor of the Hoover centre gives an unexpected piece of history on USA helping USSR! The view around from atop the Hoover tower was truly fantastic.

I'm giving the Stanford Campus 5 stars simply because it is so diverse. And huge. Over 1,000 different kind of plants. Plus.a Simon Properties Shopping Center. Budget at least 4 hours up to a full day to tour.

Sorry for delay. I believe you can view much on your own but they do have guided tours. Check online for details as they may change one year to next.

We are going to an 8 pm football game coming from Sunnyvale. Any suggestions as to bewst route to the Stadium. We have a parking pass for Lot 10 but not insistent using it if somewhere else is faster to park and then shortest wal. Many thanks

Don’t bother with the car. Take CalTrain from Sunnyvale to Palo Alto and walk in. So much easier. The station is literally in the campus.
Once on campus, they had shuttle buses etc. Having a car is going to get frustrating.

How do I arrange a visit or tour of campus in August?
Written June 11, 2016
You can easily just help yourself and do a self-guided tour. Otherwise participate in an official Campus Walking Tour and spend an hour with a student guide exploring the highlights of Stanford’s beautiful campus. A great introduction for first-time visitors and tourists.
The Campus Walking Tour departs from the Stanford Visitor Center.
Duration-70 minutes
Cost-Free
Schedule-7 days a week
11:00am & 3:15pm
The tour may be limited or closed during academic breaks and holidays.
No reservations are required for parties of 8 or fewer. We cannot accommodate parties larger than 8 on the Campus Walking Tour. Groups of 9 or more must book a group tour.
Hope this helps!

It is about 45 to 60 minutes from the Caltrain station at 4th and Townsend. The precise length of the journey depends on the time of day and the number of stops. It is about 20 minutes by foot from the Palo alto station to the central campus along palm drive. It is a beautiful walk, though a bit marred by the busy road. You may also take the Stanford shuttle(free). Allow several hours for campus touring. Check out the Rodin's at cantor, the modern art at the Anderson, the sculptures around campus. etc. look at Stanford events on the web and see if there are musical or academic events that you would like to attend. Eat lunch at one of the many cafes on campus visit the campus bookstore, and the shopping center.Downtown Palo Alto is great for dinner although a touch dear.
