We took the tram up in the late afternoon so we could do some walking in the area and then stayed for dinner after dark so we could see all the lights in the valley below us. The walking area is fairly flat once you get past the long and steep ramp that leads down to the forest. You do need cold weather gear and waterproof boots as there is snow and/or cold water on the ground. Use walking sticks if you do not have good balance. The food in the restaurant was somewhat over priced as one would expect but the quality of the food was just not what I expected. The view, however, is outstanding. Take a camera!

This is, in my opinion, the Best thing in Palm Springs. It's well organized, clean, magnificent views, relaxing, adventure, easy access. If you come to Palm Springs make sure you make the time to visit this fantastic natural place. If it's hot down, you will be in "haven" up here!! Important: If there is No ticket available in Internet, just drive there, you will get access, they always have tickets when you go in person.

Stunning hike that offers a break from the heat. The tramway ride is 15 minutes long and breathtaking. The hike at the top is easy, accessible to most, and still challenging enough to be fun. Note: closed toed shoes are a must. Also, the trail is not well marked, so know where you are going because cell signal is limited.

Beautiful, relaxing afternoon going from sunshiny 75 degrees in Palm Springs to snow on the ground cold when departing the aerial tram at the top. My husband and I are long past comfortably hiking but we definitely enjoyed a leisurely stroll. Paths are paved and being up here just for the views is absolutely worth the trip up the mountain. And if you get thirsty or hungry, refreshments, with a view, are available.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. The ride up and down have fantastic views and in a cable car with a slowly rotating floor. Enjoyed lunch at Peaks at the top and a very short hike. The ability to add layers is important since it’s 30 - 40 degrees colder at the top.

We did the trail starting from the tram. We took the tram at 8am. Started the trail at around 8:12am. The moving time for the trail is a little bit more than 5 hours. It is more than 17km in total. The ranger said it should take about 6 hours on average. The trail is not hard and the whether was cloudy in the morning, so our way up was not hot (but the way down was hot though). Very rocky in the last 1-2 miles. Very windy and cold at the top (I hope I had a warm coat but I didn’t bring it). We saw two dears and several mushrooms. The first 1/4 of the trail was in a forest landscape which is very beautiful. I bet it would be even more beautiful in the spring when there is water. Next time I will try another trail in this mountain.

The tram ride was fascinating, and we hiked the Desert View Trail to various overlooks. The view from the top was stupendous. The temperature was 85 in the valley, and 51 up on the mountain, so be prepared for cooler temps!

After a tram ride up the mountain, during which we saw the Coachella Valley and the edge of the Salton Sea, we arrived at the peak. The snow was glistening, and some people brought hiking equipement. My friend and I had hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls and just took in the blue sky and beautiful environs.

Beautiful scenery. This was just the icing on the cake after the thrilling ride on the tram car. The Jeffery Pine trees have an amazing scent of vanilla and butterscotch. This is a definite and welcomed break from the desert heat in the middle of the summer.
