Our family loves horseback riding and when we planned our vacation to Palm Springs, it was the first activity we thought of. Smoke Trees Stables offers a beautiful ride between two canyons where you get the best sight of the California desert. Our guide, Blue, is comfortable to ride with beginners like us, was very patient with us and gave... More

We met in Indian Canyon, and were outfitted with hard hats and saddle bags (for water), the horses were ready to go. They match your experience to the horse. Beautiful scenery and beautiful experience, you can wear running shoes.

If you have the time and the stamina, I would definitely recommend the two hour ride. Beautiful scenery, crossed streams several times, really enjoyed the experience. Staff was friendly and very competent.

Excellent experience. We are a family of 4 and booked a 3pm 1 hour ride. It was just us and a very nice ranch hand called Tony 'Blue'. Lovely gentle horses and great desert scenery. Highly recommended.

Safe, friendly, and fun describe our Stables' experience. Manager, wranglers, and guide asked us often if we felt comfortable and were enjoying the ride on our respective horses. All four of us adults did.

Three generations, five in all: three adults and two children aged ten and twelve, booked a private ride for 8:30 in the morning ahead of the crowds we thought. Only our ten year old had ridden regularly for the past five years. The rest of us were experienced only in our imaginations. Saddled up we headed out to ride the... More

Good introduction for a novice. Gentle, well trained horses. Of course they are used to walking in line with strangers on their backs. Overall, great guide and run ride. The one hour ride is basically in the wash, but is quite and calm. The staff are very attentive to new riders and make sure they are comfortable throughout.

My husband and I had planned a day trip to the Palm Springs area specifically to go riding. Me being an experienced equestrian wanted something where I could actually ride and not be a "passenger" yet still safe for my beginner husband. Great desert views (can't find anything like it in MIchigan!) our guide Sal was great, the horses were... More

We really enjoyed our 2 hour trail ride in Indian Canyon. The guide, Alex, was friendly and informative. The horses were very gentle. We are not experienced riders but felt safe and relaxed. It was wonderful getting so close to the desert and hills.

I had wanted to go horseback riding in Palm Springs and Smoke Tree Stables was recommended to us by our hotel. From my husband's first telephone inquiry, every part of the experience was excellent. They are very thorough about vetting the riders by age and experience and pairing them with the appropriate horses. Our guide, Buck, was very patient, obviously... More
