If your staying in the Palm Springs area the it has to be Rancho Mirage, it has everything. The normal glut of hotels and restaurants, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express as usual, but the area seems to be just that little bit more special than Palm or Desert Springs.

Having visited Palm Springs many times it was sad to see that Palm Canyon Drive which is , for me, a real throw back to the days when Hollywood loved the place and all the great shops and restaurants have character instead of names you see everywhere, is now changing into another it's all about flash and upscale. Old Scottsdale... More

As you enter Palm Canyon drive from Cathedral City you pass favorite restaurants like Manhattan's Deli...Elmer's...then you will see Stein Mart on your left. Keep going and you will see individual boutique shops, art gallaries, t-shirt shops etc. Most places are very individualized and particular only to Palm Springs. There is my favorite Chico's but that's about all in chains.During the hot... This is the "STRIP" of Palm Springs. Lots of local shops and many places to dine. Prices are a little steep for families, but not totally out of line for a destination city. History is also in teh area and growth of is still jumping.

Even those who don't normally enjoy shopping will be drawn in by all of the time capsid finds from the the eras of I Love Lucy through The Brady Bunch. Brand new iterations of many of the last century's best designs have been interpreted for today's living. Meet, greet, eat and enjoy so much more on one of the coolest... More

So many cool sites to see! -- The Chase Bank Building - St. Theresa (designed by Cody) -- and even the KFC! - Try to be there during the street festival - Thursdays (I think) - lots of cool vendors and restaurant specials.

This is the happening place! Lots of restaurants, good music, and good people watching! Day or night, there is a lot to do here. Museums, silly tourist shops, good art galleries and wonderful food choices

All kinds of shops, restaurants and fun in this adorable downtown. Very welcoming and something for everyone. We took the free trolley as well. You can see everything and get off whenever you want and it's FREE!

Everything you could need or want is on Palm Canyon Drive. Downtown area has at least 50 restaurants most accept and require reservations to not wait hours. Thursday is the street fest and dogs are encouraged. The people watching is 2nd to none
