- MarronK77 contributionsA well-balanced and strategic golf courseAs the title suggests, in a word, this is a well-balanced and strategic golf course. We visited the "Mountain View" course. As long as you don't hit the ball in places you shouldn't, you can make a decent score. However, there are problems during the cool season, and as of June 2024, the greens are in a terrible state. It's a shame, as the course is lush and you wouldn't think it was in a desert. The pond on the course is very beautiful and is truly worthy of the word "spring." The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate a variety of events. I would like to visit again next time when the greens are in good condition. - John LTacoma, Washington22 contributionsGreat Golf, Food and Staff, you gotta go.The two courses here are easily the best in this region full of golf courses. They were in perfect shape and conditioning. The Moutain View is the easiest course of the two but both have challenges. The staff and professionals were outstanding. We had a great time playing three rounds in three days and each time finished with a great lunch out on the deck overlooking the courses. This place is a five star resort rather than a muni.Visited January 2025Traveled with familyWritten January 19, 2025

We thoroughly enjoyed our round and thr kids loved the beautiful surroundings and the wide fairways. We all had a great day, in spite of our scores!Visited January 2025Traveled with familyWritten January 26, 2025

When we booked this Westin course online we received a 25% discount dining at the Terrace restaurant above the pro shop (and 15% pro shop merchandise). It’s convenient to have breakfast here before t time. The friendly starter boasted the Firecliff is one of Golf Digest top 25 courses. It’s indeed a beautiful and well maintained course. The greens are just immaculate. Green fee with cart at $50 a person was reasonable. Cart comes with GPS, ice bucket, ball and club washer. And there are cups, ice cubes and water behind the starter’s station. The course is undulating with a lot of rolling fairway. Bunkers are everywhere. Relatively difficult but pace was good. What’s impressive was during the back 9 a staffer drove up with iced towels; a godsend on a very hot day. There is on course beverage cart service. Very enjoyable round of golf.

Desert Willow Golf Course: The Mountain Course
Set off with three members at the earliest Tee time, 635AM and finished in three hours. This is a fun and beautifully manicured course in perfect condition. Enjoyable, with some challenges but basically a moderately difficult course. Pristine conditions and jaw dropping views.
After our round we had breakfast at the Club house which served restaurant quality food overlooking the course… relaxing and comfortable.
Of the two courses, I was told the “mountain course” is more challenging. I would play both courses if you are in Palm Desert

Currently staying in a two bedroom unit at this timeshare property for the 1st time. Well-appointed units and beautiful property. We received great golf discounts at two courses adjacent to this property and are enjoying the Quiet pool and grilling. Since it is 4th of July this week, as a retired US Marine, I very much appreciate the patriotic display of rows of American flags and each of the US military flags as one enters and leaves this resort. Nice to know a corporate entity such as Mariott and management at this resort still love America and respect military service. My family and I will likely return for a future vacation.

This facility is beautiful, however our experience at a wedding on June 18, 2022 was horrible!
The Lakeview Terrace was filthy, dirty, the cushions on the chairs were stained with food and drink, even sticky on some, as if not wiped for some time. As guests of the wedding we had no idea we would sit and then be dirty when we stood up. Understanding that the wind in the desert causes things to become really dusty, I can say this was abnormally dirty and dusty. We had to warn other guests to really check their seats before they sat so they wouldn't sit on sticky food and drink residue.
The bigger issue than that was the disgusting behavior of the event or catering coordinator, Robbie. Deplorable woman! She is unprofessional, has no regard for family issues that you find at a wedding sometimes, she further aggravated tense situations, was caught by me and others gossiping about the groom's mom being hurt and angered at seating arrangements, accused my 16 year old son of taking things from her desk when another guest at the wedding handed him pretty party sticks with ribbons, chased after a 5 year old and attempted to grab one from her hands...and more! By the way, I can guarantee that my son didn't take those sticks as he was by my side for the entire evening.
This lady should not be employed at any venue where she deals with guest services or customer care. She lacks skills that require professionalism, she lacks class, she is rude and without any people skills at all! Robbie is clearly not well suited for a career in hospitality.
I can deal with the dirty Terraceview better than I could with the way Robbie directed things, and interacted with the guests (especially my 15 year old son and 5 year old niece). For as long as she is employed there I would NEVER recommend anyone to hold an event at this otherwise beautiful golf resort. Beauty is nothing with that lack of hospitality and unprofessional staff.

Great accommodations but we wanted a room near the "Quiet Pool" but the pool was so cold it is impossible to enjoy. We complained to Alejandro the manager to no avail. We were told that the "coolers" were activated last week during a hot week so we assume they were never turned off. Complained again this morning and the person said they have had at least 20 complaints about the extremely cold water at the pool. Can't see why this problem hasn't been rectified.

The views were great but the food was not good at all. My husband had the Reuben with very little meat, and I had a salad with chicken that was dry. Overall, we were very disappointed and ended up spending over $50 for a lousy lunch. But if you want a lovely view of the golf course....

Our family ordered the Mother’s Day Meal for Four and a floral arrangement. Everything was beyond excellent!! Pick up of the meal and flowers was a breeze and very organized. The meal consisted of salad, appetizer, bread rolls, three different entree’s and a selection of deserts. Each was packaged beautifully with very simple re-heating instructions. Preparing the meal was so easy and took no time to prepare. All the food was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious!! The floral arrangement was gorgeous and has held up beautifully since Mother’s Day. Our mother and family very much enjoyed everything in this package and we would definitely order it again if it’s offered. Desert Willow has a customer for life!!

We can’t wait to return to this resort! The villa was spacious, very clean and well equipped in every aspect. The bbq area was convenient to use and well cared for making it inviting to use. We really appreciated the quiet pool where there weren’t any children and no loud background music, so relaxing! The maintenance & ground keepers do a superb job of keeping the pools clean and the landscaping pristine. We enjoyed a Cactus & Coctails event that was free with refreshments and a great acoustic guitar player providing music. There was no pressure to partake in a timeshare tour. The reception team was amazing as were the wait staff in the grill restaurant. This is a real gem!!

We are here now, is 5PM and there is zero food or drink available at this “resort” until tomorrow at 10AM (aside from canned soda or water at the market). We arrived at 4, got to our room and came to the pool, only to be told there is no bar or restaurant open despite a packed house during Spring Break. Going to check out early and go to another local resort…

Golfed here last year and golfed two more times this year. Last year we did the Mountain course but this year we golfed Fireside twice. Both courses are excellent, very playable and forgiving for golfers who don’t always hit it straight (me). I prefer Fireside however as it’s a bit more challenging and more picturesque. Practice facility is very nice with driving range, putting green and chipping green. Staff in the pro shop and elsewhere are very friendly and helpful. Perhaps though the thing we really loved the most was the excellent restaurant and wonderful outdoor deck overlooking the beautiful 9th and 18th greens. Food and service were both outstanding. Will be back again for sure!!!!

Is walking the courses acceptable? We love to walk when we golf and can keep up with anyone in a cart. We walk all our courses here in Canada, and some of them are very hilly....so before we decide which courses we'd like to play when we come to Palm Springs this winter, we are trying to find out what courses allow walking while playing. Thanks.
