Friends recommended this trail to us and we were not disappointed. It's pretty steep in parts, but the larger part of the trail is quite wide and the views are great. Do take water and a sunhat!

We do the Bump and Grind most days on our desert vacations. If you take the scenic route (staying to the right at the beginning) you will traverse two miles up and two miles back down. Wear good shoes and socks, carry water, wear sunscreen/hat...More

Our hotel recommended as B&G is close by & free. I recommend wearing your hiking shoes, if you have them. I didn't so just wore my running shoes. I suggest, if you're facing the hill, entering from the left (clockwise) as the path is narrow...More

I went with a friend and I haven't been working out for the past two months. This is a great work out. Trails available for beginner to more advanced hikers. Some more advanced run the trail which is very rocky and would take some skill...More

I would start clockwise on this trail in the future. I went counter-clockwise and when I got to the top, the path down was terrifying narrow so I came down the same way I went up. I find that it is easier to go up...More

My family and I discovered the trails of the San Jacinto mountains on a recent trip to Palm Desert. They are a great way to get some exercise and experience some spectacular views of the Coachella valley. People were running the trails and I even...More

This has become a very popular trail - I started hiking it 15 years ago (when dogs were allowed off leash - no dogs at all any more). It's a good hike - but in the winter, it has become so popular, some of the...More

Beautiful but strenuous desert terrain is scenic but dry, carry water. Pack it in pack it out. Many groups hike different trails weekly and monthly.

Took about an hour to reach the top with the high school girls lacrosse team as we had a tournament over the weekend in the area. There is a great view at the top! It is not paved, but totally doable.

This is a good workout that can be done in two directions for different experiences. If you go clockwise it starts out fair and then becomes quite steep with switchbacks. Then as you get to the top there is a spur that takes you to...More

I was the one who originally made the clockwise suggestion. The path is well marked and a lot of people on it even tho it was a weekday. I was delighted to hear that I was not the only one who preferred the clockwise hike.

Off Painters Path behind the shopping mall in Palm Desert. It's literally in the city.

I have taken my dog on this trail not knowing for sure. Someone told me they weren't allowed. I did see other dogs though. Definitely keep on leash.
