We have been going to the Living Desert for many years and it has become a wonderful zoo besides a desert garden. My father is a member so we went every time we visit. You can feed the giraffes and even go on a camel ride. There are many volunteers that can help with questions about some animals. It is... More

We recently attended a wedding here and I must say we were very pleasantly surprised of how neat this place is. It was after hours and the only exhibit we got to see was the giraffes after the ceremony. They took all of the people attending back to the main area on trams. They had a baby goat and a... More

Lots of animals, plants and easy to walk. If you like a zoo and a nature park, go, it's wonderful. One of our friends had a walker and had no trouble at all. There is a tram and they were more than willing to help her. What was a complete surprise was the train set up, Wow, a site to... More

Although we have been to the Palm Springs area so many times, we had never made it to this lovely Zoo and Botanical Gardens. This time was different. We were staying in Palm Desert and took the opportunity. Unfortunately in this still off season, the park is only open until 1.30 pm. Essentially we were only able to experience the... More

The Living Desert is an educational and fun experience, walking through an African and desert wonderland of North American desert animals and plants. The Botanical garden area is designed as a beautiful walk through different complete environments, giving you ideas for a backyard oasis of your own! The Living Desert animal hospital is onsite and open to the public, a... More

If you can catch the giraffe feedings it's worth checking out. I had never been so close to a giraffe before! This is not a classic zoo, but a good variety of desert animals in a beautiful natural setting. Some of the animals roam together and are not separated from each other which is nice to see.

There is so much to fascinate at The Living Desert. Get there early, before feeding time, when most of the animals are active. The grounds are intriguing, and there are many paths to meander along. The variety is amazing, from butterflies, eagles, and jaguars to the beguiling giraffe family. Many unusual animals to see among the desert landscape, and animal... More

Always a great place to walk at your pace and nicely laid out. Our grandchildren loved the animals and the demonstrations.

This place is fantastic no matter your age. This venue focuses on plants and animals from deserts around the world, primarily North America and Africa. The staff and volunteers are easily accessible and knowledgeable. Plan to spend the day and have lunch or you can bring your own picnic. Awesome place.
