Though we had read that the butterfly migration starts here in October, that was clearly not the case this year. Saw not one single monarch. Dry dusty trail through a tired grove.

The Sanctuary is a beautiful place - however this year in 2020 there were no butterflies due to the smoke from the fires. Very sad. Still it is very educational and a nice short walk through.

We rented a place about two miles away. It was a pleasant walk to the Sanctuary. Most the butterflies had left but the nice trails and the two bambi's were a treat. There was no charge to enter and at 10AM not crowded. Need to go earlier then late February to see any massive amount of Monarchs. Suggested to visit when over 55 degrees.

We saw only three monarch butterflies, but they were beautiful. We did enjoy walking in the area and reading the information signs about the monarch butterflies. We went in mid February. There is a sign in the area where it says which months are best for seeing more butterflies. Its also best to come between 12 and 3. There is some limited free parking nearby.
