We are passionate about surfing lessons and strive to give students a totally radical experience, nurturing growth in the water, mind, and heart. Big Surf is Pacific Groves original surf school and adventure touring company. Boasting the thickest wetsuits and highest quality equipment of the area as well a partnerships with many local businesses to provide discounted packages and services at unprecedented value. Surfing has always been our passion and the surfing classes at Big Surf are customized to match each students skillset and experience. I was a complete beginner and Abraham was so patient and effective in his instruction that I went from afraid to get in the water to riding a wave in under two hours!

This was definitely a highlight of my stay in Monterey. Abraham was my instructor for the morning and he was so patient and nonjudgmental! He’s a great teacher, with a laid back attitude and solid pep talks on the water. I would definitely hit these guys up again next time I’m in town.

I called on a Saturday morning and was able to get a 2hour surf lesson in the afternoon for my 2 teenagers. They had a good range of wetsuits and boards in a delivery truck by the beach. Luke talked to my kids on the beach and practiced everything before they went in the water. He stayed with them the whole time and helped them get going on the waves. My kids really like the experience and are asking to go back. Luke was friendly and helpful. Good experience all around.

What a great experience. We took our 11 year old grandson out with Abraham today and we couldn’t be happier. Abraham was the perfect instructor, his love of the sport and great demeanor made for the perfect day. Our grandson can’t wait to get back together for more lessons. Thanks Abraham, Zane and Jeano for making this an exceptional time. See you soon.

Alex K did an excellent job giving me tips and support during my first lesson. In less than 2 hours, I was able to catch a few waves and stand up on the board. Most importantly, I was left feeling confident that I would be able to continue improving rapidly with more practice. He also was great trying to help out my six year old son. Big surf made everything easy, meeting right at the beach with a truck full of surfboards and wetsuits of all sizes.

We had a wonderful time learning from Zane Alex and (sorry I forgot the name…) but they are all super wonderful! Other lessons I’ve took normally just tosses me into the water and don’t really teach me how to find the wave or tips and tricks when facing big waves, Zane’s course was totally different. He taught me several points that came in handy! Definitely recommend the class

Abraham was a great teacher me and my brother had a one on one with him and he really helped motivate us to do the best we could do. He was a great help and it was a great experience.
