About Sail Channel Islands
Capt. Dan is a Coast Guard licensed master and American Sailing Association instrutor. Sail with him for a few hours or up to several days, exploring the Channel Islands ... or take private lessons. We have two yachts, one economy and one luxury boat built in France and we are the only company offering sailing eco-tours of California's Channel Islands. Our islands are often described as the Galapagos of North American and abound in sea life from whales, to dolphins to fish that ride here on either a southern current or the northern one. Ashore, you will find a landscape mostly clear of humans and protected by the National Park Service and the Nature Conservancy. Human civilization dates back some 10,000 years here, but only a handful of caretakers live here now. Come with us and step back in history 200 years, step away from civilization.

Captain Dan and Sail Channel Islands are top notch. Whether you are looking for on the water instruction or a day, weekend or week long adventure you will not be disappointed. In addition he is very knowledgeable and super friendly. If you have the opportunity to go on an overnight trip, his 1st mate Dennis will cook a fabulous meal. I highly recommend Sail Channel Islands.

Captain Dan took the four of us out for an afternoon of sailing and it couldn't have been any more fun! Dan is an excellent captain and such a nice man! We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the water but also enjoyed great conversation and the opportunity to "take the helm." I highly recommend this experience!

It’s always a pleasure to see the delight when someone takes the helm for the first time. Wiley is truly a yar boat...you might have to look that up, so responsive yet stable and comfortable. I’m glad you took the time to explore our patch of the Pacific. Let’s do it again.

Captain Dan and Jim took us out to Anacapa Island on a full day sail. The day was fully personalized. Length of trip, lunch preferences, whether we wanted to help sail or relax and enjoy the views, kayaking or not. He provided great conversation, blankets for the cool day, lunch, snacks and soft drinks. We had a great time and would do it again.

The area of Channel Islands Harbor is one of the underrated areas of all the SoCal vicinity. The many beaches here are complete with many restaurants. Bathrooms on the beach. Even a shower. Handicappe friendly. Beautiful sunsets. Ventura County has miles of open beaches. The waters of The Channel Islands are gorgeous. A sailors dream. Unobstructed site and views. The Harbor is equipped with all the needs of any boat owners. A must visit. I highly recommend this location.

I agree. My wife and I came for a visit a couple of years ago and within a few months of returning home to Northern California, decided that Oxnard-Ventura-Port Hueneme was our dream location. We love all the activities, great weather and unrushed atmosphere, but I especially love the Channel Islands. There is no better sailing ground in the world. And the marinas in Channel Islands Harbor are some of the best I've encountered. I think mine, Vintage Marina, is the very best. Great facilities, well maintained and a very friendly and helpful staff.

Captain Dan took us along with two of our grandkids out for an afternoon sail last summer. Lots of good wind to whisk us along and the two hours seemed to flash by. While we didn't see any marine life except sea lions and sea gulls, you are very likely to see dolphins, porpoises and whales at certain times of the year. Thanks Captain Dan, we love ya.

Even though we travel at a sedate speed most of the time, I still feel a tingle when the sails fill and we surge ahead on the wind. I think you guys shared that sense of magic. Thanks for reminding me of a great day on the Pacific. Come back soon.
