Just after our drive through the redwood forest area just north of here, we came upon an area with pains and creek bottoms. Seeing a sign for Lady Bird Johnson Park, we were kind of ambivalent about pulling off of the Highway 101 for the slight detour. However the prospect of seeing elk in the wild intrigued me enough to... More

A relatively level, easy 45 minute hike into a magical land of huge Redwoods & Douglas Firs. Almost all mornings will feature an extraordinary & extraordinarily photo-friendly fog nestled amongst this enormous ancient grove. Explanatory literature available at the entrance, & periodic Ranger-guided hikes from out of the PrairieCreek Ranger Station, 20miles or so south on the beach - from... More

You skip past all the usual Redwood Trees of Mystery attractions because they seem too busy or too touristy. Most people don't know who Lady Bird Johnson was anymore, Make a note to google it. The grove is a ways up a hill on fairly unfriendly to RV roads. You may get away with a Minnie Winnie or something but... More

This trail is easy enough for a non-hiker. It is beautiful strolling through the huge trees! There is a pamphlet for $1 that describes many things of interest here. The trail is only 1.4 miles in an upland redwood grove, honoring the environmentally-minded former First Lady.

This was a lovely hike amongst the amazing Redwoods. Well worth the short trip off the main highway.

This is an easy access grove of Redwoods that is wheelchair accessible. There are guides for a self-guided tour around this short walk. It only takes about 30 minutes and gives a good history of the park.

A fitting tribute to the great Lady Bird Johnson, this 1.5 mile trail was so peaceful and quiet that even though others were there, we felt like we were far away from other people. The trail covers a beautiful grove of Redwoods and is part of a much larger national park. We did not take the tour, but there is... More

Redwood National and State Park is a must go destination if you wish to see majestic redwoods and feel the wonder of God's creation in such beauty! The Lady Bird Johnson Grove is a jewel, and a very easy short walk. However, it took us 1.5 hours to get through because we were "ooo-ing and aahh-ing" at the trees and... More

This is a wonderful walk through the old growth redwoods for us seniors. We used hiking pools just for a little support, but it wasn't steep so we wouldn't have needed them. Pick up a booklet that is in the box. We didn't so when we came to the posts with numbers we didn't know what they were. Plus we... More
