Review of: Via Adventure
We had a great experience the Via Ferrata was last week (09/04/202). First off our group was an older one (one 27 year old, the rest were 56-65). We are all in decent shape from hiking, but this was a challenge—one we were up to. We were a group of 6 and Dave was our guide—outstanding by the way. One of our group is a medical researcher as worried about your COVID protocols prior to going (I had sent him your video link), but he was impressed with not only the processes that had put in place, but the way the Via Ferrata team actually followed them. I gave Dave a heads up that my 27 year old son has autism. He is high functioning and we have found out that experiences like this have made a difference in his development. (In addition to just spending 3 years living with us in Singapore, we have canoed the Upper Missouri River and Boundary Waters, done Yosemite’s High Sierra Camps, as well as traveled A LOT in Asia and Europe.). I wasn’t worried, but wanted to give Dave a heads up. Walking the trail back down Dave said he had never seen a learning curve like Christopher’s. The first 20 minutes were a bit of a struggle in the motor planning necessary to get the caribineers through the plates. But then it clicked. So even the switch in the middle of the monkey bridge was not an issue at all. He just did it. (This was the kid that would not do a ropes course in 4th grade!) What a boost to his confidence to complete the course. And everyone else had a great time, although some were spent by the end. We celebrated with a beer at the Irish pub in the village. Good times.

Via Ferrata's rock-climb near the tram line at Squaw Valley Resort in Lake Tahoe provided the best views of the mountains, all while on an exhilarating climb up granite rock face. We got so lucky with our guide Isaac. He was professional, yet easy-going, and a very personable guy who we had the best time talking to. We owe most of the fun to him. Definitely recommend for anyone who likes a good adrenaline rush.

We had a 2.5-hr reservation and it was a good way to start and try the via Ferrata at Squaw Valley. This is our first time to do it with this company. They have a good system and implemented social distancing and other precautions due to pandemic. They were efficient and responsive to questions. Hopefully, we will have a chance to try it again with friends and families but with a longer route.
