Sorry, but this was just too frightening for me! I'm not normally a chicken but this really scared the bejesus out of me. Too many twists and turns made me disoriented and off balanced. I'll skip it next time :(

It's a quick visit that doesn't last long but its so worth going from the middle of a hot summer day, down a flight of stairs into an 1/8 mile long, walk in, pitch black, cool, (Very cool) cave. Bring a good flashlight!

These are easily missed and worth a quick visit if you are nearby - the tubes are dark and cool with a rough floor, flip flops, swimmers and no torch would not work. Whilst interesting - the visit should not take more than 30-45 mins...More

Our family with 4 kids ages 3-10 visited and had a blast. Was great to cool off as the avg. temps can be 45-50 F. Closed toe shoes are a must for kids. A fall or trip on the surface would be very painful. Flashlights...More

We have driven by this hundreds of times but never stopped. So worth it and will definitely be a stopping point for the little one. May be hard for someone with balance issues to make it through but even walking down the steps and peeking...More

Cool both literally and figuratively. Take a flashlight. The walk through is fascinating. Lava formed here left the path.

The Hat Creek Subway Cave's still awe and amaze me even years later and over a dozen times of visiting them! In the summer the area can get pretty hot, you will be amazed how much cooler it becomes as you walk down the caves...More

subway caves is a spot that might be easy to overlook, but it is well worth seeing it . . . easy access off highway 89/44 near old station . . . bring your flashlight and enjoy a wonderful bit of nature . . .

This is a fantastic cave for kids to explore. Access is pretty easy: from the small parking lot, it's a short walk and up a flight of stairs to the entrance. Both the entrance and exit have well-paved stairs with hand rails. The main part...More

It is not a park per se. An attraction maintained by the U. S. Forest Service. Best in the day because the trail to the entrance is rough. Bring a flashlight per person.
