When staying in Ojai we walk there frequently, doing a half-circuit of the vast field off Highway 33. The Preserve staff and volunteers have restored this former wasteland with California native grasses, shrubs, and wildflowers. They also restored a natural drainage area so that it's a natural wetland again with seasonally varying depths -- including dry at times. When there's... More

Can someone please provide some directions that make sense to get here? If you don't know the area, this place feels impossible to find. My hubby is actually very good about getting around in new places, but 2 attempts to find this failed and our daughter was super bummed. We had to leave without visiting, but I'm sure it's great!

Since the first efforts to bring this preserve back to being a wetland that welcomes people and wildlife began, there has been an amazing transformation. On field trips, my elementary students were given the opportunity to explore, observe, and plant native trees and bushes to the environment. A once arid field is now inviting water foul along with beautiful blue... More

This flat meadow appears dull from the outside, yet it has a wealth of birds and critters. Stand with your binoculars in a section and the birds will show up. Coming from a different part of the country, we enjoyed the nesting Hooded Orioles, a California Thrasher, and Western Bluebirds among many others. Scare up a cottontail. This deceptive spot... Sometimes a lake forms for several months attracting water fowl. Usually there are many flowers in bloom. Only indigenous plants and trees grow here. It is a magic place to walk or sit on a bench to view the "Pink Moment," the famous Ojai mountain sunset that turns bright pink usually more spectacular in the autumn.

This is a flat, easy trail to take your kids and your dog. There's a nice little pond with interesting wild life to see. I recommend this for people who are more interested in stroll or easy walk. Serious hikers will want something more challenging.

This is a beautiful property of the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy. Great place to walk you leashed dog. Quiet place with views of the mountains of Ojai. In Spring, there is water and birds to watch. An easy walk, fairly level ground.

A great place for a casual walk with a love one, your pet, a friend or alone. Just follow the trails and take in all the beauty nature has to offer.

Frist enjoyed this walk two years ago with a guide. This year, with drought and many improvements in environment (hospitality to species), it was a totally different experience. Instructive regarding the sensitivity of nature to intrusion and/or nurture by people.
