We walked south on the Strand. The Pacific Ocean is to our right. Nice; you can hear it. On the left side are buildings: homes, rental or private, condos, apartments, etc. Monotonous.

I got greater enjoyment walking back to our hotel from the Pier along a number of local streets. The architecture is definitely varied. And, the landscaping in front of these homes was just magnificent. Every house seemed to differ with regard to the plantings that they had. I give the local neighborhood walk five stars.

If you’re visiting Oceanside, The Strand is a great place to go for a walk…for a run…or a bike ride along the beach. You’ll find lots of people, and pets, hanging out and enjoying the ocean, beach & beautiful weather. Either so much movement, make sure to watch for others … especially if you are walking. Chances are you’ll find surfers every time you visit—we even wandered upon a surf competition near the pier.

This is a nice expanse of oceanside walkway that always is a major draw for us each time we visit Oceanside. Lots of parks, beach-side activities, and opportunities to view the ocean as it hurls itself against the rocks. We always look forward to any and all opportunities to visit here and walk this delightful stretch of Oceanside.

I go down here often with my dog. The strand is flat, wide the beach is beautiful. Bathrooms are clean, picnic tables and grills are right there. Great place for biking, a jog or pushing a stroller. One of the few places that has a kids park with swings and climbing fort right on the beach. If you have never taken in a concert at the open air ampatheater you really should!! The pier is a nice walk as well. 1 of the longest wooden piers on the west coast. If your not from the area, Oceanside is a hidden gem. The Strand has lots to offer.

Twenty homies shopping carts and all ,camping next to tin fish.
We rested in the shade and were harassed with knife wielding crazy homies and close talker beggars.
Nice place next to non working police hideout !!!

The Strand is a road in front of Oceanside Beach. Unfortunately, one-way traffic is allowed on the Strand so people continually make a loop around the beach. It would be so much nicer if the "powers that be" at Oceanside would make this area pedestrian only. There are sidewalks but lots of "cruisers" in their cars. Bike rentals are available at one end of the Strand and there is a local park.

It is a beautiful walk down to the pier and so much to see and do. A great way to spend the day at the beach and enjoy Oceanside.

Oceanside is one of the last of the beach towns having a long paved strand for strolling which provides the chance to cool off in the adjacent blue Pacific...just mind the avid surfers,.. before continuing your people watching skills while sun drying. Bordered on one side by tiny open air shops catering to lovers of homemade ice cream...smoothies...cotton candy..or rental pedal bikes... and on the other side, by beach activities like sand volleyball, frisbee games, kite flying, sunbathing and surfing, the strand/beach is pleasantly active and clean with adequate bathroom facilities. Both police and lifeguard facilities are provided along the strand. Tip: only swim between the lifeguard flags because rip currents pop up suddenly and flags identify the safe swimming areas. The paved strand ends at another fun Oceanside thing ...the Oceanside Pier before turning into a lovely sand beach that reaches to the San Luis Rey River and the Pendleton Marine Base beyond. It's old beach town nostalgia on a comfortable level with good old fashioned fun.

The Strand is the only road between the resort and the sand on the beach! It’s a one way single lane of traffic with room for bikes, walkers, runners, dog walkers, etc. Sometimes, loud vehicles or vehicles with loud music go by and you hear it from your room. This doesn’t bother us.

Always worth the walk...the view is wonderful and people watching fun. Always quiet in April. I go on spring break to avoid the crowd.
