I've been coming here basically all of my life from way back in childhood when we camped on the beach (free) in a "circus" tent as my brother called it when there really were lots of clams to be had, even at 4:00 in the morning. I've been here now full time for over 23 yrs and still thank God... More

As I recall, there were multiple entry points to the beach along the section where most of the hotels are spread. So one could park near a hotel and probably find an access point to the beach along the hotel's side.

We usually stay at pismo sands r.v.park when in town, however, we decided to make reservations here at the state campground. Well maintained little park (oceano loop). The weather right now has put a dent in the beach activities so, it no doubt would be a much busier place on a holiday weekend in summer..but, right now it's pretty tranquil.... More

Beautiful beach. Allows dogs but they must be on a leash. The scene is beautiful with greenery inland and California sycamore trees. The waves are beautiful, big, and strong and the sound of them rolling in are so calming.

Six year old and I had a great time finding sand dollars. Vehicles are allowed on the beach here and you need to be aware of them. The waves are a bit rough and the water cold for swimming but there are volleyball areas and several surfers in wet suits around.

Great beach to walk and find sand dollars. You can walk a long distance down this beach and it's a great place to watch the sunset. Fun energy at sunset. People bring their chairs and build bonfires and wait for the main event. Fun.

We were staying in Santa Maria and drove down to Pismo. What a find. We sat on the beach and within minutes we saw otters dolphin and on the horizon (half mile off shore) we could see Humpbacks lunge feeding. Great long bay to walk or with car access further south of you want to drive on the beech to... More

My wife and I are staying at the Oceano campground at a RV site. The site includes 30amp power and water, no sewer. There is a short walk to the beach, but you cannot see the beach from the park. The campground is mostly empty during the week. The sites are big enough with lots of mature trees. About the... More
