- ttandst48 contributionsTerrific eveningWe went and saw "Pump Boys and Dinettes" and were thoroughly entertained. Really a great show. High energy and fast paced, the event was divided into 3 sections (2 intermissions). The first two performances were the Pump Boys and Dinettes, while the third performance was a Vaudeville act. Lots of fun! Parking can be a problem, so get there a little early.Visited March 2020Written March 16, 2020
- Genevieve RTollhouse, California305 contributionsWonderful, with a suggestionThird visit total. First "postCOVID" visit. The show was awesome as always. Highly recommend. We now own property in Cambria and will likely be attending more. Recommendation from the audience to make the experience more comfortable during this Summer 2021 and into Fall 2021.Our performance was about 1/2 full. Given that, there were may open seats that folks who were sitting "uncomfortably close" could have spread out before the performance began. This could be overseen by the staff who could have invited people to move for their comfort into seats of comparable value. This would have made a big difference in the comfort of many (ie tall men) and the safety of all.Visited August 2021Written August 20, 2021
- ekasabaThousand Oaks, California51 contributionsA Night at the MelodramaThis was such a very fun evening with a wonderful high energy and talented cast. Singing, dancing, story telling. A vaudeville act with chicken was hysterical 😭. This is a must see theatre. Plenty to eat and drink without a bad seat in the house.Visited February 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten February 9, 2020
- ald233Arroyo Grande, California329 contributionsDifferent, local, organized showWe decided to try this local favorite. There are people who attend once and those that are regulars. The show is locally produced and the actors are fun and obviously well rehearsed. Interesting presentation and fun for us to experience. We might go again to support the local talent. Facility is adequate with ample room. Parking is near and substantial. Food and drink offered.Visited February 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten March 16, 2020
- Maryann LFair Oaks, California1,300 contributionsExcellent Customer ServiceOur Comedy Tonight 2021 event scheduled for Thursday August 12 was cancelled by the Melodrama. To compensate they graciously offered us a gift certificate that never expired . We have been to the Melodrama before but we are not from the area and do not plan to return. My husband contacted the office and they were kind enough to credit our account. If you live in the area, or are visiting, GO. It's great fun!Visited August 2021Written August 17, 2021

- gardog211 contributionsHilarious!First time here, recommended by our neighbors. Absolutely hilarious show, my cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing too much! Family friendly, very reasonably priced. A modest menu of hot dogs, sandwiches and snacks all served by the cast. Shows change every few months. Cannot wait to be in the area again and see another show!Visited September 2022Written October 22, 2022
- anitabrit13 contributionsT Disappointing show after 33 yearsThis melodrama used to be really good and funny. It has gone downhill for the last 3-4 years. Sylvia was stupid. Hardly anyone laughed. There were a lot of empty seats and most people were not laughing. I wrote to them expressing my opinion and got a long egotistical reply. We will not returnVisited April 2018Traveled with familyWritten April 16, 2018
- centralcoastguyLos Osos, California143 contributionsGreat Fun - Turn off the TV and Go!I hadn’t been to the Melodrama in years, but we were looking for some weekend entertainment for my wife and I, with our adult children and friends. Now I wish we hadn’t waited so long to return. They presented a Sherlock Holmes murder mystery followed by a vaudeville review. The cast was very talented and quick witted. Imagine a cross of a Mel Brooks movie and Monty Python, with consistently funny gags and lines within well acted parts of the play. The vaudeville portion had a contemporary twist with well performed numbers involving singing, dancing, comedy and other performance that was very entertaining. The cast worked their butts off and didn’t miss a beat in this fast paced entertainment. This is a performance not to be missed! It was much funnier and more clever than the sitcom crap on TV.Visited February 2018Traveled with friendsWritten February 26, 2018
- Dani WBuellton, California13 contributionsGreat TheatreThis is such a great gem in Oceano. The theatre itself has a unique old time ambience and aesthetic to it. (Free parking.) The seating can be a little cramped but you'll be enjoy the show so much you'll forget all about it. Food and drinks are served by the cast, what an awesome treat (and amazing that they do so during intermission as well). The cast is energetic and truly talented. It's an interactive show, so be ready. There's a surprise at the end, so hang out for a few. We took our 10 year old and he had a blast. It's great for families, a date or fun with friends.Visited July 2018Traveled with familyWritten July 28, 2018

The Melodrama is a fun evening out. The actors do a great job performing. It is always an enjoyable time EXCEPT when kids are allowed to be loud and obnoxious. This is not a place to take small kids who are not supervised and allowed to carryon. That ruins everyone's evening and is not fair to the actors. An announcement is made for everyone before the play starts, however some parents do not think it applies to them or their kids. Intermissions are given, food is available and directions are given for children who need to be removed for a time. This is a fun, all generation place, but is too much for some kids.

We go to the Melodrama in Bakersfield all the time and this show was twice as funny as any we’ve seen. Eb Madson had me laughing so hard my belly hurt. He should be on Studio C.

Don't miss this fun theater experience. The troop always gives you a fun filled and entertaining show. The venue is fun, the show is fun and the actors are great, especially Jeff Salsbury who should probably be on Broadway! Go and enjoy the show.

Doubt if you have had a request like this but I’m going to give it a shot. Our Model A club from Modesto will be coming to Pismo in October of 2019. We were wondering if some of our men could take your stage dressed in grass skirts for a little Hawaiian dance. Would love for your actors/actresses to take it from there. What do you think?

I am not the Melodrama. You would need to call and ask them. Have fun.
