About
Saddleback Cellars, established in 1982, is a small, rustic winery located in the heart of the Napa Valley in the Oakville appellation. Its estate vineyard produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Zinfandel. Known as "The King of Cabernet," legendary winemaker and owner, Nils Venge, has been making stellar Cabernet Sauvignon, along with many other varietals here since its establishment. Saddleback has long made killer Cabs and Zinfandel but variety is our specialty! We like to produce fun wines for fun people, including Pinot Blanc, Albarino, Vermentino, Sangiovese, Syrah, and many more. If you have a sweet tooth be sure to ask about our Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel. Please give us a call and come in for a tasting! Feel free to picnic on tables alongside our Pinot Blanc vineyard, enjoy some good old country music, and experience Napa the way it used to be . Come have fun the Saddleback way!

Comfortable setting with very good wine

As Napa has gotten more popular, casual places like Saddleback have become rare. It's nice to taste very good wine in a casual setting. Our hostess was great and our favorite wine was the Merlot.

The best wine and company!

Saddleback was highly recommended by many and we’re so glad we stopped! We spent some time with the amazing staff and experienced the delicious wine! We were greeted by Angie who assured us we were in for an amazing tasting, she wasn’t wrong! Angie poured glasses with details in every pour, she knows her stuff! A man that was assisting added special details about the grounds and the family history along with lots of laughs. The team was kind, delightful and made the tasting so much fun! The wine......oh my gosh....the wine....amazing!! We walked away with an order of wine to be delivered to our home to share with our East coast family. On a scale of 1-5 Saddleback is a 6! The best! If you’re looking for the experience with a side of delicious, stop in and hang out with Angie, you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!

Excellent customer service!

Had a lovely solo wine tasting experience - reservation was easy to make and winery was easy to find. It's a smaller house so tastings were outside overlooking the vines (lovely) and made for a more intimate setting. Rick was friendly and knowledgeable during the tasting. I actually bought two bottles and when I came home, one broke all over the floor! I sent a picture via email and they immediately agreed to replace the bottle. Plan to visit again!

We went here because we are Petit Verdot drinkers and wanted to buy a bottle of theirs. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, great wines too. I think we bought a bottle of every one we tasted! Not a fan of country scene inside, but it goes with the name. Make sure to stop by! Thanks!

Lovely tasting on a beautiful day!

Enjoyed our impromptu visit this afternoon and had the pleasure of having Bob work with us! The wines were delicious and nice enough to purchase a few bottles to take home! Our favorites were Chloe’s Blend (Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot) and Pinot Blanc. Definitely worth a visit to this smaller vineyard. We were fortunate to also be there while volunteers helped with the bottling, which occurs only a few times a year.

Here is a place to enjoy excellent wines in a laid back atmosphere. On a beautiful day you can sit at picnic tables and over look the vineyards. Be sure to greet the dog!

Hidden Boutique Winery - Worth a Visit
Dec 2018 • Family
We recently visited Saddleback Cellars to check it out for a group visit, and we were struck by how truly neighborly the place is. Not only does it have excellent wines (whites & reds are both good), they have a very nice outdoor picnic area for your own lunches. You do need to make a reservation, but they were kind enough to accommodate us at the tasting bar without one. The wines are very good -- we especially enjoyed the Chardonnays. It is a very small, barn-like venue, a welcomed change from the often way-to-slick and large Napa wineries. It is like stepping back to Napa of the 1970s -- which I'm lucky enough to remember! Wine tasting fee is $30, but they give you quite large pours, and they pulled out some special wines in addition to the 6 on the tasting list.

As a local, this is the place I recommend to my friends

If you want to NOT deal with the Disney land part of Napa, go here. This is a very quiet, comfortable, friendly winery with many varietals, a small barn-like tasting room and a pretty picnic table setting to sit back, relax and enjoy what a Napa Valley wine tasting experience used to be like.

Quiet cozy gem

Went here on a recommendation. Glad we did. Michelle was awesome. She explained all the wines and history in detail. The have picnic tables that overlook the vineyard. Awesome views. Best of all? Every wine we tried was outstanding! The prices weren’t inflated like many of the other wineries either. It was so good we joined the club! Outstanding visit
