About
Saddleback Cellars, established in 1982, is a small, rustic winery located in the heart of the Napa Valley in the Oakville appellation. Its estate vineyard produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio and Zinfandel. Known as "The King of Cabernet," legendary winemaker and owner, Nils Venge, has been making stellar Cabernet Sauvignon, along with many other varietals here since its establishment. Saddleback has long made killer Cabs and Zinfandel but variety is our specialty! We like to produce fun wines for fun people, including Pinot Blanc, Albarino, Vermentino, Sangiovese, Syrah, and many more. If you have a sweet tooth be sure to ask about our Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel. Please give us a call and come in for a tasting! Feel free to picnic on tables alongside our Pinot Blanc vineyard, enjoy some good old country music, and experience Napa the way it used to be . Come have fun the Saddleback way!

Our visit to Saddleback Cellars was an excellent experience! We really enjoyed our wine host, Craig, who was friendly, hilarious and knowledgeable. The wine we tasted was fantastic and we really enjoyed hearing about the wine making process and history of Saddleback. Our group also enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and it was a lot of fun sitting along the vineyard while we enjoyed our lunch with some wine.

Best casual winery experience. Knowledgeable staff. Sit right in the vineyard at picnic table and taste excellent wine. We had our own sandwiches for lunch bought at the Oakville Grocery. Price was one of the lowest with one of the best overall experiences. Not high end but gives you a real experience.

Our first stop on a day in wine country with friends from out of town. What a great choice! Excellent wine, lots of entertaining attention from Angie in a comfortable location next to their vineyard. Not the fanciest winery you’ll visit but probably the most memorable. Thank you, Angie for the warm hospitality. We had a great time.

Had a lovely solo wine tasting experience - reservation was easy to make and winery was easy to find. It's a smaller house so tastings were outside overlooking the vines (lovely) and made for a more intimate setting. Rick was friendly and knowledgeable during the tasting. I actually bought two bottles and when I came home, one broke all over the floor! I sent a picture via email and they immediately agreed to replace the bottle. Plan to visit again!

This was our second of three stops on our Napa wine tour day. Our family of 4 from Canada enjoyed this winery the most and found the host to be very knowledgeable and willing to answer our abundance of questions. We loved the laid back vibe and atmosphere and treated ourselves to a few bottles to enjoy once back in Canada. Our only regret was not being about to meet Chloe. We definitely enjoyed this smaller (relatively speaking) winery a lot.

We had the most wonderful experience tasting wines at Saddleback on a rainy afternoon. First, the wines are fantastic - Saddleback boasts one of the deepest and broadest collection of high quality wines in Napa. We came for the Oakville Cabernet, which we've been drinking for years and is always fantastic. The special edition cabernets (35th anniversary in particular) are also incredibly good. But Saddleback also has Zinfindel that to us was a hidden gem, and a lineup of several other great wines (Sauv Blanc, Merlot, Malbec, to name a few). But the absolute highlight of the tasting was our host Angie (aka Beth Dutton). She's energetic, funny and a great person to hang out with - we felt like she was part of our group! And her passion for the wines and their authenticity is infectious. We will definitely be stopping by Saddleback on our next visit to see Angie, and encourage anyone who reads this to do the same. If you aren't in Napa any time soon - buy a sampling of the wines, you won't regret it.
One final note: the tasting room is a simple concrete building in the middle of the famous vineyards of Oakville. But don't judge a book by its cover - Saddleback has created a fun, laid back vibe in the tasting room (note the "No BS" spay in the bathroom for laughs), and on a warm sunny day you will literally be looking out over one of Napa's best appellations while enjoying the top notch wines.

We went here because we are Petit Verdot drinkers and wanted to buy a bottle of theirs. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, great wines too. I think we bought a bottle of every one we tasted! Not a fan of country scene inside, but it goes with the name. Make sure to stop by! Thanks!

If you want to NOT deal with the Disney land part of Napa, go here. This is a very quiet, comfortable, friendly winery with many varietals, a small barn-like tasting room and a pretty picnic table setting to sit back, relax and enjoy what a Napa Valley wine tasting experience used to be like.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Saddleback Cellars. Of all of our tours this was the one of the most relaxing. We sat outside at a picnic table and enjoyed our tasting right next to the Vineyard that produced the wine. We were sadden that we visited on a day that the winery dog (I forgot the name) was taking a day off. We heard that he is a real treat. We had three outstanding wine: The Merlot, The old vines Zinfandel, and the Pino Blanc.

How much to taste at different levels? and have a picnic lunch. Can you just buy a bottle to drink with lunch?

Oh my! We are wine experts, not so good with social media. What a delay in reply... BUT, in case it helps others. We can offer two tastings, one ALL REDS at $35 and a 6-wine mixed reds/whites tasting (the usual one) for $30. When weather permits (333 days of the year) you are welcome to taste outside and enjoy your lunch. Do let us know when you are making your reservation. I don't know how you would choose just one bottle to enjoy - we recommend the tastings because Saddleback surprises everyone with value for quality. Cheers!
