Frequency is not great especially on the weekend, fare level slightly too high. Way too many stops-can't be a fast and efficient service. Ticketing also not great, not through ticketing with other mode of transport such as BART/Caltrans Comfort of the carriages are good, that's...More

In the two months I have been taking this 5 days a week, it has been late about 20% of the time. It is nice to be able to visit the cafe car in the evening for a beverage on your way home from work,...More

We arrived on the California Zephyr in Emeryville and connected to Oakland with a Capitol Corridor train. We only had to wait about 20 minutes at the same station. The Capitol Corridor train was very comfortable and modern inside the double-decker cars.

On previous US trips I have travelled on the Amtrak from San Diego to San Francisco and from Seattle to San Francisco, these journeys were unforgettable experiences in themselves, the journey fro Emeryville to Sacramento was more like being on a train in the UK,...More

Thank you for your review Kit. Yes, the Capitol Corridor is more of a commuter train getting people to where they need to get in Northern California although we do have a few attractions along the route. Hope to see you back on the train...More
