As you wander the streets and byways, you can find gravestones from the 19th Century commemorating California greats up to current times and ordinary folk. I have taken a couple of the free tours offered by the cemetery and have found them all very interesting...More

Visited crypt niche of my grandmother. The grounds are beautifully designed and maintained. The buildings were beautiful inside.

Beautiful walk through cemetery that was landscaped by same designer who built NYC Central Park. I walk this space often. It is quiet and peaceful and has well tended nature near the paths/causeways.

Every other week my friend and I walk through Mountain View Cemetery. You can take a dog, but we don't. It's very interesting with lots of headstones from famous people

I used to walk regularly with a friend here. Many pathways and well-groomed flowers and grass. I was here on Saturday for a memorial celebration of a dear friend’s life. The small chapel was a perfect spot.

Unlike most cemeteries, Mountain View is alive with trails to explore, history to learn, concerts to hear and flowers to enjoy, especially during tulip season. There are tours available and if you are a Civil War or Oakland community enthusiast, you will be fascinated by...More
