The park offers many activities and the diverse Oakland population loves to take part in them. And the locals are friendly! Includes a bird preserve, children's entertainment, an arboretum and a display of beautiful bonsais that reproduce in miniature magnificent nature vistas .

Fun, easy place to see different types of people, all ages, hanging out, enjoying a beautiful area. Good after lunch or before a happy-hour cocktail. Lots of picnic spots and places to throw a frisbee. Taco truck nearby is always a teen favorite.

I love walking around Lake Merritt. It's a walking distance from from son's place. It's beautiful, considering the perfect weather for a stroll!

Parts of the lake are very smelly and dirty. The city needs to address this problem which has been going on at the one end for years. This should be a nice place to walk with friends or family but there is trash in areas...More

Nice long walk. Mostly flat. Part of it is currently under construction. Nice, large, and relaxing garden on one end. Also has a large playground and a kids place called fairyland. There is a parking area that charges a fee but there is plenty of...More

Three miles of easy walking around the lake but what a glorious three miles it is. From families to joggers, from kayakers to bikers, you will see it all here. I particularly enjoy walking here in the evening when the lights are on around the...More
