Thank you for the wonderful Yosemite all day tour with Rick as our driver and guide. My family (2 children and 4 adults) will remember this experience for many years to come. Rick was friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating when we just had to get that one extra photo. We appreciated his safe driving and lunch and snacks were great and well suited for a mix of adults and children. We were so fortunate to have an amazingly clear beautiful day as well, a bonus in January. What a privilege to be able to experience such an amazing place. The company was very efficient to deal with in planning our visit with nothing too much trouble. I highly recommend Discovery Yosemite Tours.

let me start by saying I'm a very thrifty person (aka: cheap). I was not pumped about the idea of spending $400+ I wasn't expecting to spend to see Yosemite. I had to walk away and collect myself when my wife booked it last minute just to protect my poor lil heart. But of all the vacation decisions we have ever made, this ranks right up there with the best of them. totally money well spent. absolutely no regrets. We went July 2020 (during coronavirus park entrance restrictions). We booked the all day tour. they were waiting for us when we arrived at the rally point in Mariposa. Our driver Bob was a cool dude and his driving was that of a professional driver. The van/minibus itself had air conditioning (which I was thankful for since it was 102F outside) and plenty of windows, including a big one right over the windshield that really let you look up from the road and appreciate all the cliffs and mountains around us even more. They provided a simple and humble but very tasty lunch and there were plenty of drinks available all day. They even provided us with hand sanitizer. We stopped at all the open stops worth seeing (Mariposa sequoia grove was closed to busses) and we had plenty of time to wander around and appreciate our surroundings at each stop. We saw Glacier Point, Bridalveil Falls, El Capitan, and Half Dome from up close from either lookouts or as close as possible from the ground. We also had some wandering time that we used to swim in the Merced river. It worked out really well and I’m very happy with entire experience. I highly recommend.

We had the most amazing day with tour guide Alex yesterday! He was incredibly knowledgeable, professional and personable... he could not have been a better tour guide and he gave us so many facts and stories about Yosemite that we never could have gotten on our own. Also, the car was extremely comfortable so our day turned out perfect! We are so glad we decided to go with your company and would recommend you to anyone coming to Yosemite! Thank you for an absolutely wonderful day! I would recommend the full day private tour as the best way to take in all the sights of the park!

Dave "the dude" aka "shadow" was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made our experience extra special and was able to put us on all the hot spots so we could see the best spots and get the best photos. He was willing to answer questions and make the experience extra personal to fit our needs. The packed lunch was great and he came prepared with tons of drinks and snacks ! More than enough to hold us through the day. He was very adaptable to what we wanted to do and had great covid protocols. He also had 3 pairs of GREAT binoculars so we could see up close, the bus had AC and was super comfortable! Highly recommend this tour and this specific guide for any yosemite tour needs!!!

Wonderful experience. Our guide Dave was superlative - informative, erudite, knowledgeable, funny, and an absolute natural at the job. Oh and a great driver. Would recommend them ever time - couldn’t be better. This was a private all day tour in August 2021 for 4 people at $950.

We had a great time this past weekend to Yosemite! Discover Yosemite's office staff and their tour guide was excellent. We only had a few days to plan this trip and Deann(owner) and Jennifer answered every question we had and helped us make this trip memorable.
We had a private tour set up for two days and Alex was our tour guide. He had a lot of information and stories about Yosemite, hiked with us on the trails Sentinel Dome and Vernal Falls/Clark Point but most importantly impressed us (Unexpectedly) with Bridal Veil Falls in terms of getting us to the bottom of it and see the Snoopy on the wall! Bridal Veil was like a parkour course as the path to the pool was not easily accessible but with his help and guidance we were able to do it! That was the favorite part of the trip especially for the kids (luckily we were all fit to do it)!
Also we were able to see the Grizzly Giant, Fallen Monarch, and the rest of the grove with his awesome suggestion! Thank you!!!
The were plenty of snacks and cold drinks that refreshed us on a hot day. Lunch was included and an assortment of sandwiches that you can choose from prior to ...nothing amazing but not bad either.. (it's a sandwich) and were aware of my children's nut allergies which were written on the label when passed out to us.
For those that are concerned with Covid and we mentioned it with Jen at the office. Alex and the driver wore masks as we were in the bus which were super clean with nice open views. Hand sanitizers were included too.
Overall a great private trip that was well worth the price for our group of 8.

Our tour guide was Marsha. We came on a Wednesday in early November. There were 11 on our bus. The bus is fairly new, in great shape, with seat belts and nice clean windows including overhead. Marsha was so knowledgeable and have in depth facts, history, and personal anecdotes. She lives here, and her passion for the area and the park in specific shone through. She told everyone where and how to get the best photos. We saw all the main highlights except Glacier Point because the road was closed due to snow. Bus pickup was on time at 700 at the Hampton Inn, and we didn't get back until 500 pm. It was cold in the morning until about 900am but felt warm in the sun. Marsha had tons of snacks in addition to the lunch, which was pre-ordered. The sandwich lunch was just fine. It's not inexpensive but is a great introduction to Yosemite for first-timers and worth the money. Marsha is also an excellent driver, very smooth and capable.

My wife and I just finished a personal tour of Yosemite. While is was a little pricey for just two (max at the base price is 4) we think is was well worth it. From the start, dealing with Jennifer Swartz, who seems to head the operation, was delightful, (although I think she still owes me a burrito dinner). She was very helpful in every phase of our scheduling and arrival. Our guide was Phil Ireland who was absolutely terrific. He was an excellent driver of a new Cadilac Escalade and was very knowlegible about the area in every part of the tour. We saw everything we wanted to see and wasted no time in things that we did not feel interesting. Phil picked us up at out hotel and spent over 9 hours cattering to our desires. It was terrific. Thanks to Jennifer and Phil for such a good tour.

All of this tour was incredible. Jennifer who assisted us in reserving the tour was sooo incredible. Making sure all of us on the tour were taken care of. Jarrett was just a great tour guide, his knowledge of historical sites and additional history was phenomenal. I and a few others in the front asked questions and he was great in answering with detailed. He really enjoys what he does and has a great sense of humor as well. We have a lunch included in the price and had ample time for each important sight. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Price was reasonable.

We booked a 9-hour private tour with Shon Nelson as our guide. He was fabulous! He took us to all of the key spots, regaled us with nonstop history and stories and treated us to a picnic lunch at a serene spot on the Merced River. We could never have seen all that we did in a single day on our own. Well worth every penny.

We used discover yosemite and booked direct on their website. There are numerous pick up points. Our guide Marsha was great. There are lots of stops throughout the day and a packed lunch is included in the cost. The lunch stop was at yosemite falls. The park was very busy and as we were on the tour parking wasn't an issue plus you get great info and commentary. You'll enjoy yosemite however you travel it's amazing.

Hello , We are visiting for just 3 days from 8th Sep. until 11th. and would dearly like to see large trees, we have a redwood on my golf course but it is just a baby some 90 years old. Would love to be able tell our green keeper how large it is going to be but not in our life time!!! Do you have any way that a pair of young at heart but a little aged Brits. can get to see one or two??

It is possible that Mariposa Grove will be re-opened when you visit. It is just at the estimated re-opening date. If not, you will see some individual Giant Sequoia on the tour. If you would like to see a Giant Sequoia Grove and Mariposa Grove isn't open yet,The Nelder Grove is just outside of Oakhurst and easy to get to. It's a beautiful place to spend an hour or two.

You can visit in February, weather permitting. There can be snow and roads do occasionally close, but not often. Chains may be required and they are not allowed on rental cars, so if renting a car consider 4-wheel drive. You may still be required to carry chains in Yosemite.
There are many hotels in Oakhurst. If you search for the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau there is a website with a complete list (links are not allowed here or I would send it.) For weather and road conditions search for National Park Service Yosemite and you will find the link with that information.

We stayed outside of Oakhurst and we were met by the van at the Visitor Center in Oakhurst. The tour included all the main sights within Yosemite Park. The convenience of being driven around and dropped off at each sight to explore and take pictures was great for us because we didn't have to drive, find parking and fight crowds. We were dropped off at the main lodge in the park, lunch was part of the tour. The driver provides a narrative during the tour explaining the history and geography. We had one day in the park and felt the tour was well worth the money.

Do a lot of kids go on the full day tour? I have 8 and 11yo sons and I'm concerned they'll get tired/antsy from the long day. What has been your experience with kids on the tour?

Yes, we have a lot of kids on the full day tour. We stop frequently and have time to get out and walk around and the drivers are very good at keeping them interested. We also give the kids a coloring/activity book that has a scavenger hunt of things to locate during the tour.

Yosemite is beautiful at any time of year. Weather, as anywhere in the winter is difficult to predict, though unless you get caught in a storm, winter in Yosemite is grand and pristine. Some seasonal road closures limit where we can go, but there's always plenty to see and do to fill the day and it isn't as crowded as other times.

My husband is in early seventies and gets around fine most of the time but cant be be rushed for more than a couple minutes brfore getting winded especially when walking fast. How strenuos is this day tour?

It isn't strenuous. There are opportunities for a little more walking, but it isn't necessary to enjoy the tour. We accommodate all ages and abilities.Thank you for your interest.
