There are enough small shops and restaurants very close to the beach. Going for a stroll is fun, and hanging out on the sand is nice. Not too crowded. Parking is available around the area - it could get full, but pricing is decent.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 1, 2024

The pier was average. There were homeless people camped around the stairway by the parking lot. I was alone during my trip and did not feel safe at this location. I went to the end of the pier and had lunch at Ruby's which was nice. The seagulls are very aggressive lol!

The pier was very busy but still made a nice walk along to the end. The boys went on their scooters although it was probably a bit too busy for them so they had to go very slowly - which was fine. Probably best visited on a week day rather than at the weekend.

The old wooden pier is a great backdrop for your photos, breaking up the seemingly endless beaches. I recommend early morning and the blue hour before the sun sets in the Pacific ocean.
I am fortunate, as I can walk there each morning. The beach is sandy and wide, and surfers are enjoying the waves. A perfect place to bring your family for a beach day, r to visit the Dory Fishermen and many nearby restaurants.

Beautiful view however there were many homeless people sleeping where we wanted to sit or walking around. We saw one homeless lady get arrested. There is no restaurant or business at the end of the pier, but still a gorgeous view. Beautiful place to watch the sun go down.

We went in the afternoon to see Newport Beach and we loved this place. We watched the sunset on the beach and stayed until night on the pier. The landscape is amazing. The beach is beautiful, unfortunately we went in winter and we couldn't get into the water, but the highlight of this place is the peace, tranquility and the view from the pier from where you can contemplate the sea disappearing into the horizon. Then we walked through the streets and were impressed by the beautiful houses that have direct access to the sea. Totally recommended this place.

Love walking this pier! So relaxing. Could just stand here for hours watching the waves come in. And the sunsets are breathtaking. Enjoyed watching the fishers. But was bothered about the homeless just laying around on this pier. Was sad. Kinda a jolt back to reality after being so overwhelmed with the views.

Always fun to take a short or long walk on this Southern California pier.Read the plaque at its entrance for its interesting history. It is just a short walk from the Balboa ferry. A clear day presents the coa st line and a view of Catalina Island. Pay parking is available.
