This pier still doesn’t have a restaurant at the end of it, but the walk is entertaining. All ages venture down this pier. I love to watch the fishermen catch fish. At this time of year, when the waves are good, surfers catch waves. Some of these surfers are beginners while others seem professional.
There are several restaurants near the pier. Dory Fishing boats go out to fish daily. They have a stand near the pier where fresh fish are sold. Often there are musicians who play music and sing in the square by the pier.

A lot of people stroll, or sometimes they fish. As a community, it is a fun place to go solo, with friends or family. It is a safe place. Sometimes parking can be tricky cuz it is popular. I usually park further north and walk down to the pier to avoid paying for parking. Lots of nice eateries in the area as well.

The beach and pier were clean and easy to enjoy. I took my grandchildren ages 4 & 8 and they loved it. We did not bring suits so no swimming for us. Lots of folks were swimming and they all seemed to be giving each other plenty of space. I was disappointed that folks were not masking (it was about 60/40 no masks) in the public walkways and the pier. I would have liked to see more people taking responsibility for their part in preventing the spread of COVID19 but it is what it is.

The pier was average. There were homeless people camped around the stairway by the parking lot. I was alone during my trip and did not feel safe at this location. I went to the end of the pier and had lunch at Ruby's which was nice. The seagulls are very aggressive lol!

The pier was very busy but still made a nice walk along to the end. The boys went on their scooters although it was probably a bit too busy for them so they had to go very slowly - which was fine. Probably best visited on a week day rather than at the weekend.

The old wooden pier is a great backdrop for your photos, breaking up the seemingly endless beaches. I recommend early morning and the blue hour before the sun sets in the Pacific ocean.

I am fortunate, as I can walk there each morning. The beach is sandy and wide, and surfers are enjoying the waves. A perfect place to bring your family for a beach day, r to visit the Dory Fishermen and many nearby restaurants.

Beautiful view however there were many homeless people sleeping where we wanted to sit or walking around. We saw one homeless lady get arrested. There is no restaurant or business at the end of the pier, but still a gorgeous view. Beautiful place to watch the sun go down.

Always fun to take a short or long walk on this Southern California pier.Read the plaque at its entrance for its interesting history. It is just a short walk from the Balboa ferry. A clear day presents the coa st line and a view of Catalina Island. Pay parking is available.

Love walking this pier! So relaxing. Could just stand here for hours watching the waves come in. And the sunsets are breathtaking. Enjoyed watching the fishers. But was bothered about the homeless just laying around on this pier. Was sad. Kinda a jolt back to reality after being so overwhelmed with the views.

If you are looking to take a relaxing stroll or get a great view of the beach below, then set some time aside to take a walk along the pier. You may get a great shot of a sailboat passing by or get a close up view of someone's daily catch. Bring your camera!
