There are multiple trails within the bay and a paved roadway around the bay. All of the trails and roadway offers magnificent views of the bay. I was greatly surprised to see it pretty empty. Every popular hiking trail in LA county is packed.

This an estuary treat not to be missed! Take a side trip a little ways to Irvine Ranch Market for refreshments and...what ever. Baked goods are great, but overrule benefits of walking or riding. Sad, but good.

The Upper back bay trails are a great spot to get some exercise. You can walk your dog, ride your bike or just jog or walk the whole loop. The whole loop is 10 miles, but the sites are awesome. You'll see fish, birds, snakes,...More

This area is such a wonderful location to spend time outdoors, whether running, biking, walking, or kayaking! Great wildlife watching and dog-friendly as well! Please enjoy responsibly and clean up after your pets if they enjoy this beautiful trail as well!

The back bay preserve is great for hiking and biking - and riding horses if you have one. Peaceful and good bird watching.

The setting is lovely, especially in Spring. There is an excellent visitor center, and the topgraphy is varied and interesting. Bird watchers will enjoy the opportunities presented by the wide variety of ocological venues.

I highly recommend renting or bringing your bike for the scenic and relatively flat ten mile loop around the preserve. There are a few hills to navigate but they're doable, especially if you go around clockwise.

This is a great place to take a nice long walk. It has views along the Pacific Ocean as you walk. Nice sunsets as well.
