Took my teenage daughter on this little adventure; not much training involved; watch a video and head out into gorgeous Newport bay; the power control is run by the guy running escort on the waverunner; once you get the hang of it, he ups the power; within a couple of minutes I was blasting at 25 feet; have to watch the imbalances, though, as you can come crashing down -- I almost fell onto the waverunner on one descent (crash); my daughter was more timid so they kept her power and height down; tried a couple of submarine/dolphin leaps, which were tricky; not something I would feel the need to do again, but it was a great experience, and I have the video to relive it!

I have not ridden on this, but I've watched it countless times from shore. It looks like fun, but the water here is always cold - not like Hawaii or Florida. The company will be terminating this ride this year because they wanted to run 2 in parallel and the City Council and neighbors said no - too much noise. So they are pulling out of this particular area. If you are interested in doing this, do it soon.

It could have been great but sadly it was awful and a huge waste of money. The website says they will spend" ten minutes" training you how to fly, this did not happen. They asked us to arrive an hour early to learn the ropes and that didn't happen. We were instructed to watch a video first(at home) to learn the safety and that stuff. Well it shows you a location different from where we were. So expecting to start out walking into the water chest deep, then have the instructor show you how to control your flight. Instead we were taken out to the middle of the water, jump from a raft type boat into another boat, strapped into the pack then jump off the boat to end up completely submerged in water. From there they say they will guide you through the headset helmet. Once the pack is turned on you can't hear anything so all directions were lost. I think if they spent a little time out of the water showing you how to operate this machine it could have been so much fun but once in the water you are basically head first straight down every time it starts since you have not been trained as they said they would. This was the Newport Beach location. Not happy about my wasted money.

Response from JetpackAmerica, Owner at Jetpack America

Alicia, thank you for sharing your feedback from your recent flight experience. I'm truly sorry it didn't live up to your expectations. We have made some recent changes to our overall flight process, where we now ask that all customers watch the pre-flight training video before coming in, so they have a chance to absorb it (and watch it again, if necessary). We also encourage our customers who may be less comfortable in the water to try the jetboard instead of the jetpack, since it can feel less restricting in the water, but it sounds like this wasn't offered to you. Either way, we understand that the first flight can be a little stressful, so the staff really should have taken a little more time to make sure you were comfortable. If you would be willing to give it another try, this time on the jetboard, please let me know and I can set up the flight for you. Thank you, Dean (949-400-9790, dean@jetpackamerica.com)

Great experience!! It was fun, frustrating but overall a good learning & challenging one. I would def do this again & have it longer then 20mins. I would say at least 30-40mins, to really get a better experience & to have more time to really adapt to jet-boarding/jet pack. I will come back to catch more AIR!! 💨💨😎

I got my 20 minute flight as a gift so decided to use it with my nephews since no one else would come with me. First I was very scared of the "unknown" I have done skydiving, seadoos, scuba, etx but still nervous The staff was amazing from the time I booked until the time we left. My instructor was super patient with me. He knew I was nervous. I told him I wanted to walk on water. I was ready to give up but after 3 tries I was up and running on water. I was super excited. Having shoulder issues, I'm glad it was only 20 minutes. My nephews has 30 minute flights. Being 18 and athletic, they were flying quick. They did many of the "tricks". They both loved it and can't wait to have an opportunity to do it again. I will definitely put this on my "list of things family must do" when they visit. And I will do it again until I can work up to an hour. If I didn't live 2 hours away. Really couldn't ask for a nicer and patient crew/staff. Can't wait to see the photos as well This is pricey but so is anything else that is fun and adventurous. Well worth it
