don't go there with big expectations for the kids. It's just a modest ferris wheel and a silly swing ride and a modest arcade. The Zone is a nice quick stop-by if you are already in the area and passing through, i.e. using the ferry to/from Balboa island. Food concessions, souvenir shops, bars and restaurants make up the difference.

You will enjoy the Balboa Fun Zone, we sure do. It is FUN to walk it, go in the little shops, get frozen bananas on a stick, cotton candy, and much more at the stands. Games, ferris wheel, next to the Ferry entrance. It really is a must see, especially for the kids/teens .... but for us mature adults too.... More

We mostly spent the time people watching and walking around. A clean, safe, fun place for families, small kiddos and/or older couples. Lots of things to do, and great places to shop and eat!

We read great reviews so we came here to either do a harbor cruise or ferry our car rental over to Balboa Island. When parking, we noticed a really foul odor (sewage?) in the parking lot. Not sure if it was a slow day or the norm as we visited on Columbus Day around 2pm, but the fun zone was... More

I thought that there would be more to do here. There are some shops and restaurants but that is really about it. We only walked around to a few of the stores and grabbed some pizza.

Balboa fun zone only offers 4 rides. All are for younger children (kids over 8 won't enjoy) and are way overpriced ($5-$10)

I grew up going to the Balboa Fun Zone. With so many things to do and see it's a great place to take the family for some fun. They have a Ferris wheel, bumper cars and a really fast carousel. You can rent boats of all kinds to go out on the bay. The arcades are fun and the food... More

First of all, it's not the most fun place on the Southern California coast, but it is a nice place to walk around. The amusement activities are kind of elementary with a small ferris wheel and bungee jump, but it's mostly aimed at kids. More interesting is this place is good for getting on the water where you can go... More
