Recently, I visited Newport, CA and had the absolute pleasure of booking a day trip on East Meets West Excursions. My family was warmly greeted by Nick, the Captain:) The cruise lasted a couple of hours and was truly amazing!!!!! Nick so kind and so educated spoke with us about what we could expect during our trip as we made our way out of the harbor into the ocean where we hope to see dolphins. Nick has the personality that the second you meet him you feel that you have known him forever. This was a super plus for me as I have a slight fear of the ocean. He immediately put me at ease with his care and humor!! Nick, knows the water and explained in detail our trip. He was so interesting that I forget the "real" part of our trip was to see Dolphins. Well, he did not disappoint! within 15 minutes of our trip our boat was surrounded by dolphins diving in and out of the water as we traveled. The dolphins stayed with us for quite sometime, truly amazing!! East Meets West Excursions is THE only excursion to book when booking!!!!!

The size of this boat is perfect for getting up close to see dolphins and whales. The dolphins were right in front of our boat and we got to see them up close as they jumped in and out of the water. I’ve never seen anything like it. We also got to see a few large whales which was breathtaking. Captain Nick was totally cool and made us feel instantly comfortable in our small group. I would definitely come back! Highly recommend doing this at least once in your lifetime. Totally worth it.

My friends and I had an amazing time with Captain Nick aboard East Meets West. I’m generally nervous on boats and prone to sea sickness, but had no issues at all. I felt completely safe the entire time. Captain Nick really put in the time to find the dolphins and a humpback whale, it took awhile, but he was persistent. He knew everything about the marine animals and was always very conscientious about keeping a safe distance from the whale to make sure it felt unharmed in its natural habitat. The boat is extremely comfortable, there’s no bad seat. 6 people maximum makes for a much more interactive and personal experience. I can’t say enough about what a great experience this is. Will definitely be out again!! Thank you Captain Nick!

I've been on two whale watching excursions with Captain Nick/East West Excursions and each time was an amazing, memorable event. We saw mega-pods of dolphin, humpback whales, grey whales and even had the rare treat of seeing killer whales! Captain Nick is extremely knowledgeable, which adds to the overall experience. I highly recommend that you book an excursion with East Meets West, whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town!
