Dan picked us up and took us to 4 great vineyards. He was very knowledgeable about each place we went and as we picked up folks from other stops. We had a great group of folks and will be recommending this tour company to our...More
We spent two days with Army Moreno, driving from Sonoma to many wineries. He did a wonderful job of finding great, different wineries for us to visit. He was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable!! Really great experience!!
My friend and I took the Napa day tour with lunch and Danny was our guide. He did a great job! We were fortunate to be grouped with 9 other fun wine lovers, none of whom we met before our tour. Danny was helpful in...More
The key to any tour is the guide. And Sam, our guide for Platypus, was top notch. He was informed and informative as well as entertaining. He selected wineries that ranged from the elegant (Rutherford Ranch) to the small specialty (David Fulton). Great time and...More
Our concierge recommended Platypus over the many other wine tour services available. She said that the customer feedback she receives from their customers was the best. I certainly understand why. Platypus avoids the large production wineries and explores the smaller, more interesting establishments. We had...More
I don't have enough great things to say about the experience my boyfriend and I had on our Platypus tour this past December in Napa! Every single detail of the tour was perfect; from the amazing boutique wineries that we visited where we did our...More
We had such a great experience with Platypus Wine Tours in Sonoma. We had such a lovely time and made even better memories. Our amazing guide was Bob and he was so knowledgable, friendly and really new the area. 100% would book again!
I did the Platypus wine tour in the Napa Valley with my friend, Karen. We are both in our thirties and were after a fun & relaxed wine tour - and Platypus delivered on that.

Our hotel concierge has recommended either doing a private tour or group/join in tour with Platypus Wine Tours since this is our first time to the area. We read the Trip Advisor reviews and they all seem great, and they're ranked very highly. . Does anyone have past experience with them on here? Would you recommend? Is there another group tour you would recommend? Any thoughts on group vs private winery tours? We are first timers visiting Napa and got overwhelmed by the long list of...More

Platypus group & private tour (6 Replies)
We have a group of 4 heading to Napa next month for wine tasting. We are thinking of doing a group tour with Platypus Wine Tours on Friday and then hiring a driver through them for a private tour on Saturday. I thought it would be a good way to get the best of both. Anyone have any input/recommendations? Thanks!

Why two different ones ? Why not just the private tour ? Platypus is well regarded so is this to save money ? Does it ? You can do two different areas or regions with the driver if you need to do 2 days

My husband and I are visiting Napa for two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) in May and will be staying at the Andaz. We have booked an all day tour with Platypus Wine Tours on Wednesday. We will be driving in from San Francisco on Tuesday and want to visit 2 - 3 wineries on our own. We enjoy all types of wines; however, Chardonnay is our favorite white and Pinot Noir is our favorite red. Based on what I’ve read about Platypus Wine Tours they seem to visit smaller wineries so I was thinking we...More

Carneros is your place- lots of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Cuvaison, Etude, Sainsbury, Nicholson Ranch. Highly recommend going over the Golden Gate Bridge on your way to Napa. That's the free direction :)
