About
We offer half-day and full-day guided fly-fishing trips to Putah Creek--just 25 miles from downtown Napa-- to fish for wild Rainbow Trout! We also can guide on other rivers if requested by the client. We provide all gear: waders and boots, fly rods & reels, etc.; and any requested drinks for the day. Full-days come with a deli lunch as well. Richard and our other guides have many years experience with fly-fishing on Northern California rivers; and will bring clients to the best fishing spots and assist them with catching fish. It's a beautiful and serene getaway from the busy-ness of everyday life.

Richard was a great guide on Putah Creek and my husband and I enjoyed our day. He is very knowledgeable about all things fly fishing and has been on the water in the area for years. His enthusiasm for the sport is catching and the beauty of the area is remarkable. Book Richard for a day or half a day on Putah Creek and breathe in serenity!

We had the pleasure of using Richard as a guide on the Putha in early July.
He is very knowledgeable and knows the area well. Richard was very patient with my son and wife (first time fly fishing). While the water was moving fast, we could land a few fish – due to Richard's expertise and coaching.
I will have him guide us again on the next trip.

My dad and I had an awesome time fishing with Richard. He has an enthusiastic energy for the waters that is intoxicating and makes you want to quit your job and wade through rivers the rest of your life. He showed us all the tips we needed to go from awful to not so awful, but more importantly made it fun. I even hooked two fish! Imagine that. I'll be back soon to fish with Richard, and I suggest you do the same.

This was a great experience and fun day. Our family of four loved it and enjoyed the environment while learning fly fishing.
Richard was an excellent guide; providing waders, boots, and all necessary equipment. He was very patient and helpful throughout the day. As novice flu fisherman, we were very green and needed assistance. We purchased a fishing license for the day.
As a family visiting the Bay Area, this is a memory that we won’t soon forget. You won’t regret this experience. Would recommend this 5/5.

Rich took the time to teach us the basics and showed us the tips and tricks to be successful. Was a great day on the water, would highly recommend going out with Richard for a day of fishing.

For my birthday, I was treated to a half-day outing with Napa Valley Fly Guides, with Richard guiding our trip. I really had a great time!
He took the time to give us some basic fly-fishing instruction. Our fishing site involved a small hike, including a short stream crossing in waist-high water. Richard helped us navigate the current, and nobody got wet! Once we arrived at the fishing location, Richard showed us how/where to fish, and what techniques to use. He did a great job handling all the rigging, and assisted in lading fish as we caught them.
Napa Valley Fly Guides provided all required equipment. All we had to do was purchase a 1-day fishing license and show up.
Richard was super friendly, knowledgeable, and really provided a fun experience! I would recommend this for anyone looking for a fun outdoors activity. I don't think any prior fishing experience is really necessary. We had such a great time, we'll be booking another trip.

Went on a half day yesterday with Richard and it was well worth it. He has so much info to give to someone like me who is still learning how to fly fish. I recommend using his skill to guide you around the Napa area.

My friend and I had an amazing time. We are both pretty inexperienced fly fishers. Richard was super patient teaching us and we ended up catching a few trout. Would highly recommend him as a guide for anyone in the Napa/Sonoma area.

Richard provided a great day of fly fishing for my husband and adult daughter. They both caught several beautiful trout. He extended the day at no extra cost and went out of his way to both drive and return them to a meeting place in Napa. Sarah made all the arrangements easy and stayed in touch throughout the scheduling process. We would highly recommend Richard for a great day of fishing!
