What a great experience. We highly recommend this. Now is the time to do it as each balloon only carries 8 guests due to COVID precautions. The entire staff were super friendly and informative. This was definitely a bucket list adventure. Thanks to everyone

My wife and I booked a private flight over Napa with pilot Igracio Lopez. Money well spent. We did this for our 10-year anniversary and had a blast. Igracio had complete knowledge of ballooning and took the time to explain and go over everything as we went along. How everything works, where everything is from above, picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. If you haven't been in a hot air balloon, you need to do it at least once in your lifetime. We will be doing this again with our kids when they get older. hopefully with Igracio Lopez as our pilot. All the staff were professional and fun to be around. They let you walk around the balloons when they are preparing them to take pictures or videos. It was insanely quiet up in the air. Not windy or cold as we thought it would be. We were at around 1,600 feet above the ground for our flight. Igracio showed us how he tracks the balloon on his iPad and his Garmin during and after the flight. Was really cool to see where in the valley we went on Google Earth. We can't recommend Napa Vally Balloon Inc. enough. This was amazing. Thank you Igracio Lopez for making our flight special.

Great experience! Well organized, very professional, safe and FUN!
We went up Sat morning Sept 23rd with Bob as our Pilot. There were several other balloon companies up that morning, all of them were watching us to see what winds we caught. Amazing views!
Great hospitality, breakfast and mimosas after the flight.
Remember they can control everything except Mother Nature.

Had a Wonderful experience with Napa Valley Balloons. CHAD is the MAN!!! I took my dad who has dementia up for his 79th birthday. Chad and his crew went out of their way to ensure my dad could easily get in and out of the basket. I was really concerned about it, but they made it so easy. it was wonderful experience My dad enjoyed every minute. He explained it as “serine”.

It may be one of the last activities my dad may enjoy and it will be a memory I’ll have forever. My hats off to Chad and his crew for make this day go so smooth and special. I highly recommend them. They truly went above and beyond!!!

Our group of four made reservations with this particular hot air balloon company months in advance for an Easter Sunday morning flight. Three days out, with poor weather predicted, we tried to move our reservation to any one of several other days. The company rep flat out denied our request. They had our credit card information but refused to cancel or to reschedule. (Other balloon companies do not have this "no date change" policy.) With heavy rain predicted for the next morning, we called at 9:00 the night before to see if we could cancel the flight and avoid having to set our alarm for an early wake up. Again, we were denied and told we had to call at 4:45 AM the next morning. When we made that VERY EARLY morning call, guess what? Our balloon flight was cancelled due to the poor weather! Basically, this company locked us out of a long awaited ballooning experience due to their unreasonable "no rescheduling" policy. There are several hot air balloon companies in the area. Check them out before making the same mistake we made.

I am a travel writer and host for Discover America (the main tourism program from the United States government), so to say I know how customer service should be in the tourism industry is a little bit of an understatement.
The day we were due to fly we woke up at 4:30am and headed to Domaine Chandon where they were coffee and pastries available. Mike (who I think said he was the owner) then gave a speech about how customer satisfaction is their number one priority and then proceeded to tell everyone that the cloud cover was too much to fly over Napa and that they would be taking us to their other launch site.
Having read the reviews on here I knew that meant an hour bus journey there and back to Winters which I was not interested in doing. He said we had the option of changing our flight if we didn't want to travel to the other site (again he didn't tell people where it was or that it would be an hour journey there and back for a potentially 45 minute flight).
I went up to speak with him and said "I'm going to keep my voice down, so I don't deter anyone else from flying today, but I know some of the more unfavorable reviews are due to Winters being somewhat ugly compared to the vineyards of Napa", he immediately became defense and loudly responded "How many reviews say this and how many say they had a great time flying with us?", I replied that I understood that, but that of course Napa was prettier terrain instead of over farm land (also apparently residential areas, though I left that out) they fly over in Winters, his loud response was "Ugly is Las Vegas!" (who said anything about Vegas??), I then asked him if he thought the weather might be better for flying over Napa tomorrow and his exact response was "I'm not working tomorrow, so I don't care what the weather is like".
To me after spouting a load of obvious untrue nonsense about customer satisfaction to say that after I respectfully lowered the tone of my voice and politely asked him a few questions was one of the most disgusting responses I have ever heard from someone in the tourism industry.
We left after the customer service girls agreed to reschedule us for the next day, they told me I would receive a confirmation email.
Of course I didn't receive the email the following day and so upon emailing them I was called by another lady who said they hadn't rescheduled me, but that she would go ahead and do so because it wasn't booked up (thankfully since that was the only day we had left and they had failed to do their job correctly), we spoke about why I hadn't flown that morning and she agreed that we would get a call an hour before the flight the following morning to let me know if they would be flying over Napa or Winters because they knew I wasn't interested in Winters.
I of course again didn't receive a phone call, but having woken up again at 4:30 for the second day in a row I decided to drag my husband whose birthday present this was for there again even though he thought it was pointless since they hadn't called us, upon arriving I was told they would be flying over Napa and that's why they hadn't called (which made no sense considering the arrangement I spoke about with the woman the night before and that they risked us not showing up because of not being called).
The actual flight was a lot of fun, John our pilot was a great guy and the ground staff and other pilots seem to really enjoy their jobs.
John told me the flights can last anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour 1/2, so it's a luck of the draw on that depending on wind and if in Napa the ability to find a place to land (there aren't many).
Also one other note as far as we're concerned the whole warning about caps for tall people (they have them for sale there if you forget to bring one) is also nonsense, my husband is 6' tall and we were still cold up there and enjoyed when the burners were on since it warmed us up a bit.
In conclusion I went with this company due to reading that they were the oldest company in Napa even though they were slightly more expensive than the competition, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
If you don't mind where you fly and just want the experience of flying you will absolutely enjoy it, if you have the time though to reschedule when they say they're going to Winters and don't want to be piled into a bus for 2 hours I would suggest holding out for the beautiful Vineyards of Napa.

I think I've only written one other review on Trip Advisor because I just don't take the time to get into this stuff with so much else going on in my life! That said, I felt I needed to write up this review because my experience with this hot air balloon company a few days ago was just so disappointing. Instead of flying over the vineyards we flew over housing/farm developments, the landing almost killed us as the pilot didn't chose to land in safe fields but rather chose one close to the road as we bounced within feet of the 505 Highway with cars beeping their horns hoping we'd stay out of their outbound traffic. Things spun out of control then so 2 guys from within our balloon basket--customers--jumped out and tried to use ropes to pull us off from ditching on the highway.....REALLY?? I've flown in hot air balloons in Africa, etc., third world countries that had better, safer experiences than this. I expected so much more form a Domain Chandon/Napa Valley Balloon experience. When we finally got back arriving late of course because of what happened, the brunch consisted of 3 silver containers of egg, potatoe, bacon/sausage. So meager as a brunch experience put on by a winery....just so disappointing all around. To top it all off I paid almost $500 for all this for my husband and myself. ULTIMATE BUMMER. Advice: If you're bent on a hot air balloon ride in Napa, at least select another hot air balloon company so your life isn't at risk! Do not use Napa Valley Balloons.

At 6:15am, we arrived bright and early (a group of 6 from all over the US, who drove in from San Fran) and surprised my sister with the prospect of a hot air balloon ride. She was thrilled. But that didn't last long. After the coffee and pastries (which were pretty darn good, by the way), we were told that the ride was not possible over the Napa Valley and we would try to launch elsewhere over some Nut Trees. Fine - not their fault - they offered to drive us "45 minutes" to the new launch site and loaded us up in vans, which proceeded to be the bumpiest, most nausea-inducing ride possible. After an hour (at least!), we arrived at an empty pasture where the baskets were waiting to be readied and a wild dog scratched at the ground watching us drive up. They told us we couldn't get out of the vans and even had child-lock on the doors. When we asked to use the restroom, they told us there wasn't one available. A few minutes later, we hear over the intercom that it's "too windy" here as well so we have to drive over the the "Nut Tree Airport" (or something like that). Pray tell, why could they not have redirected us earlier when there were obviously people at the site before us who were testing out the winds??? Then we proceed to drive another 35 minutes to the airport, which thankfully, we thought, would at least have a bathroom we could use. When we reached the airport, we found out the balloon ride was canceled. Too windy at 5 MPH, they said. We were obviously disappointed but of course, would rather be safe than sorry. So we at least got to use the bathroom. A line of 20-25 women waiting to use the restroom and they announce that we "should not flush unless [we] have to." Are you serious? Everyone had to use the restroom on top of everyone else's business. Awesome.

Twist of the knife? We saw a hot air balloon floating in the not-too-far distance on the drive back. How did they manage to fly? After the nearly 2 hour ride back to the Domain Chandon vineyard, where we had met initially, they did not so much as offer us a drink. It was like, "ok here we are, sorry we couldn't go up. Get out now." That was it. They told us to try to come back tomorrow, which we couldn't do as we were from out of town. In any case, there was supposed to be a brunch after the balloon ride, which they apparently decided not to make or something because it was left completely ignored that this was supposed to be part of our trip. Thanks for nothing.

The only thing we got out of this was that our driver, a nice fellow, gave me some good advice on vineyards in the area we could go to for wine tasting. At 10:00am, we were ready to drink- so we did.

We were very disappointed to wake up before dawn on our vacation to meet Napa Valley balloons at 5:30 am, only to learn that our balloon would not be able to go up in Napa Valley due to the cloudy conditions. I really wish they would have called us the evening before so we could have avoided getting up but since we were already awake and at the location we reluctantly agreed to ride an hour in a van to a remote location for a ride. There was no mountain view or sunrise view...just alfalfa and tomato fields. The balloon was safe and the pilot was very nice...but for almost $500 per couplr I would have never taken this balloon ride if I knew there wouldn't be a view. I could do that anywhere. I recommend that the company be more candid with their patrons on what to expect. I felt like it was a bait and switch and that's not fair.

Dear Reviewer, We appreciate you taking the time to write a review and for your feedback. I regret that you did not feel we provided you with the service that you expected. Our goal is to send everyone home happy and it disappoints me to know that you were unhappy with Napa Valley Balloons, Inc. Please understand that our decisions on weather and flight location are based on keeping our guests safe and flying legally. These decision are made on the morning of the flight because the weather is a moving target and unexpected changes happen. No flight is guaranteed to occur until the balloon has left the ground meaning that at times, and for your safety, we will cancel or relocate a flight up until the time your balloon launches. Since the weather unfortunately is out of our control, we offer an alternate flight corridor as an option for our guests on the days that we cannot fly in Napa which is fairly typical in Ballooning. Except in the case of a Charter/Exclusive flight (private flight) where specific arrangements have been made, if flights in Napa are not possible and we need to switch flight locations because of the weather, you are not required to go with us and you will not be charged if you choose not to go to our alternate. We have found that over the years, the vast majority of our guests would like to go ballooning even if it's not over the Napa Valley and we have received a lot of positive feedback on our alternate site. Ballooning is a lot of fun and we do our best to share that with you. Our alternate site offers us things that Napa does not. They are different flights but we feel our alternate offers a great flight as well and are delighted to share it with those that wish to go out and have fun ballooning. All that said, if you do have your heart set on the Napa Valley, please understand that you are not required to go to our alternate location. If you are a "Napa Only" please book by phone and notify our staff that you do not wish to fly outside of the Napa Valley. I do encourage people to keep an open mind. We have been in operation of over 35 years and for the majority of those years have used the same alternate site. We have been able to make many people very happy as a result of having that site. In closing, please know that the last thing I want is for you to feel like we were trying to "bait and switch" or hide something from you. I'm sincerely sorry you feel that way. As a result of this review, I will look at ways to amend our confirmation email and online booking form's "Cancelation Policy" in an attempt to further communicate that going to our alternate is your choice, not a requirement and to let us know if you wish not to go. Thanks again for your feedback. We do take it seriously and value what you think. Sincerely, - Gabe Napa Valley Balloons, Inc.

I had been looking forward to a hot air balloon ride nearly all summer. We finally had one reserved and scheduled for November 14, 2011, Both of us had gotten up early, before 5:00 am and arrived at the Domaine Chandon Winery well before 6:15 am. There were no signs directing us as to where we should go, sign in, etc... We more or less found that on our own. After meeting several couples who were traveling from out of state; celebrating anniversaries, etc... we piled into a van and rode for nearly an hour and a half trying to find a place free enough from the fog to launch the balloon. Needless to say, that did not happen. Nearly 2 hours into our "road trip" we were informed that we were headed back to the winery. Several of the people in the van asked if there would be the customary brunch and were told "no". Many of these people had flights to catch and did not want to re-schedule a balloon flight if the fog was always going to be a constant and daily factor. The least Napa Valley Balloons could have done was to have given us a complimentary brunch instead of simply bringing us back with the option of re-scheduling. Very disappointed!
